Andre Ellington said he called for Stepfan Taylor to come in and vulture his touchdowns Sunday.

Ellington insisted that he could have stayed in, but wanted Taylor to get the scores because he "deserved" it. That's a reference to all the work Taylor has put in during practice as Ellington has rested his foot. It sounds nice in theory, but there's a good chance the coaches prefer to use the bigger back near the goal-line. It's also a way to limit Ellington's workload a bit, as he's averaging 21.6 touches per game right now. Ellington, who has two touchdowns in six outings this season, is a borderline RB1 weekly despite his lack of scoring upside.

Anthony Dixon is under the impression he'll be the Bills' feature back going forward.

Fred Jackson (groin) could miss a month and C.J. Spiller (collarbone) is out for the season. "This is opportunity I've been waiting for, to get back in that workhorse role and show people what I can do," said Dixon, who went on to insist he's been mislabeled as a short-yardage back. The problem for Dixon is that the Bills traded for Bryce Brown this summer, a far more talented, versatile and explosive runner. We're expecting Brown to lead the committee, with "Boobie" filling a big back role.

When asked if Denard Robinson will keep the feature back job, coach Gus Bradley said, "Yeah, I think so."

Coaches are loathe to make depth chart declarations, especially right after games. But Bradley had to at least suggest he'd give it up for Shoelace after a 22-127-1 outing as the starter. When Toby Gerhart returns from his foot injury, he'll slide into a complementary role along with Storm Johnson. Gerhart has been a drop candidate in 10- and 12-team leagues for a few weeks now.

Jimmy Graham played on 30-of-75 snaps in Sunday's loss at Detroit.

Graham played enough snaps to be a factor, but he oddly wasn't really a part of the gameplan. He had zero catches on two targets and the Lions defenders said afterward they weren't worried about him. ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett says it's difficult to predict if Graham's role will increase going forward, as the tight end's ability to block and absorb contact are in doubt. Owners can just hang their hat on the fact that he didn't appear to suffer any setbacks Sunday.

49ers C Daniel Kilgore suffered a broken leg in Sunday night's loss to the Broncos.

Kilgore had played every snap this season for the Niners, earning strong grades in run blocking. Now his season is in jeopardy. UDFA rookie Dillon Farrell replaced Kilgore in the lineup Sunday night, but the Niners will try to get third-round rookie Marcus Martin (knee) back after the bye.
Oct 20 - 8:18 AM

Juwan Thompson managed six carries for 30 yards in Week 7 against the 49ers.

Thompson wasn't involved until late in the third quarter. He didn't play in red-zone or short-yardage situations over Ronnie Hillman. With Montee Ball not expected to return until at least Week 9, Thompson will remain the Broncos' No. 2 back for Thursday night's game against the Chargers.
Oct 20 - 1:49 AM

Carlos Hyde had three carries for 15 yards in Week 7 against the Broncos.

Hyde didn't get his first carry until the third quarter. The 49ers were forced to abandon the run, with Hyde and Frank Gore combining for just 14 touches. Hyde played limited snaps and was mostly limited to mop-up duty. The 49ers could look to get Hyde more involved in the second half of the season.
Oct 20 - 1:30 AM

Vernon Davis caught two passes for 21 yards in Sunday night's Week 7 loss to the Broncos.

Davis was a non-factor for the second straight week. He didn't look completely over his back injury, securing just two of his five targets. Davis will have the 49ers' Week 8 bye to get fully healthy.
