The Cowboys have replaced Morris Claiborne with Orlando Scandrick as the starting corner opposite Brandon Carr.
After learning of his demotion, Claiborne "stormed out of the facility" and skipped the Cowboys' walkthrough practice on Tuesday. The former No. 6 overall pick has nobody to blame but himself. He's flat-out terrible, and has been his entire three-year career. Jerry Jones even said Claiborne hasn't been worth the draft investment. Claiborne's demotion is disappointing for fantasy owners. He was an easy target for any receiver lining up opposite him.
Coach Bruce Arians said he thinks Tyrann Mathieu was playing scared in the Cardinals' Week 3 win over the 49ers.
Mathieu is coming off ACL surgery and has played just 20 defensive snaps since making his debut in Week 2. It's very possible he's not yet trusting the reconstructed knee. Arians added that SS Tony Jefferson's strong play is making it hard to get Mathieu on the field. Jefferson is PFF's No. 1-ranked safety against the run. Mathieu's snaps should increase as the ballhawking slot corner.
Carson Palmer (shoulder) "tossed" the ball off to the side at Tuesday's practice.
Palmer will throw again on Wednesday, and coach Bruce Arians hopes he'll be back for next Wednesday's practice. The Cardinals are on their bye week. They take on the Broncos in Week 5. Palmer is battling a nerve that won't "wake up."
Jets RE Muhammad Wilkerson left late in Monday night's loss to the Bears with a knee injury.
The Jets are calling it a bruised knee. Wilkerson is expected to be ready for the Week 4 game against the Lions, which comes as good news after he was helped off the field. 25 next month, he's PFF's No. 7 3-4 DE through three games.
Redskins LG Shawn Lauvao (knee) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Giants.
Lauvao has been dealing with right-knee issues for each of the past two weeks. Josh LeRibeus will fill in against the Giants if Lauvao can't go.
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins believe Knowshon Moreno's (elbow) return "isn't too far off."
Moreno is still targeting Week 6, which would be less than a month after he dislocated his elbow. Moreno was given a 4-8 timetable upon going down. The Dolphins take on the Raiders in London this week before going on bye. Moreno remains a must-hold in 12-14 team leagues.
Free agent DT Ryan Pickett worked out for the Texans on Tuesday.
Two weeks shy of his 35th birthday, Pickett started all 16 games for the Packers last season. He'd be reserve heft for the Texans' J.J. Watt-anchored defensive line.
According to Falcons OC Dirk Koetter, Devin Hester has "played his way into more plays" on offense.
The special-teams dynamo has caught 7-of-8 targets for 126 yards through three games, and added a 20-yard rushing touchdown. Hester has provided a nice spark as a gadget player, but that's almost certainly what he'll remain. That comes out to boom-or-bust WR5 status. He isn't worth rostering in 12-14 team leagues.
