Chris Johnson went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Braves beat the Mets on Wednesday.

For as good as Johnson has been this year, the homer was surprisingly just his fourth on the year and first since May 13. The Braves recently dealt Johnson's handcuff, Juan Francisco, in what amounted to a vote of confidence in the 28-year-old. He's responded with a .319/.355/.463 line in 56 games.

Shaun Marcum fell to 0-9 as he allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Braves on Wednesday.

Marcum hasn't been as awful as his record would indicate, but he's now turned in two subpar starts in a row that have seen his ERA balloon from 4.96 to 5.76. Marcum's control failed him on Wednesday, as he walked a season-high four batters to go along with six hits allowed. At this point, it's not hard to see Marcum being the odd man out when Zack Wheeler arrives in New York for good.
Jun 19 - 10:24 PM

B.J. Upton went 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the Braves' win over the Mets on Wednesday.

June has been by far Upton's best month at the dish, as he now has more runs batted in this month (9) than he had in the first two months combined (8). He's hitting a modest .255 in 18 June games, but that, too, is a season high for a month. It's certainly been a first half to forget for the elder Upton, but he's capable of getting hot and producing in bunches at a moment's notice.

Athletics prospect Addison Russell hes started to heat up at High-A Stockton, going 15-for-34 (.441) with seven doubles and 12 runs scored over his last eight games.

Russell, the 11th overall selection in last June's draft, is hitting .249/.332/.467 with seven homers, 28 RBI and seven stolen bases through 55 games. While he boasts impressive raw power, he's still developing as a hitter and has already whiffed 67 times against 27 walks. He's still a few years away from contributing at the major league level.
Jun 19 - 10:11 PM

Justin Masterson held the Royals to two runs over 6 1/3 frames in Wednesday's 6-3 victory.

Masterson struck out eight but wasn't overly sharp, as he allowed nine hits and walked a pair. Just one of the hits went for extra bases, though. Masterson now has nine victories and will bring a nice 3.48 ERA and 1.21 WHIP into next week's start in Baltimore.
Jun 19 - 10:10 PM

Luis Mendoza yielded four runs on four hits and three walks over just five innings in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

Things turned sour in a hurry for Mendoza, who held the Tribe hitless through the first four frames. Michael Brantley took him deep to lead off the fifth, and Mendoza allowed the first five batters to reach in the sixth before getting yanked. Mendoza has mostly pitched well of late but still sports a 4.30 ERA and 1.45 WHIP for the season. He'll get the Braves at home next.
Jun 19 - 10:06 PM

Michael Brantley had a pair of solo homers and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

Brantley's solo shot to lead off the fifth was the Tribe's first hit of the game, and his solo blast in the eighth extended their lead to 6-2. The outfielder entered the night hitting just .173/.241/.192 with one extra-base hit in June, so it was a much-needed breakout.
Jun 19 - 10:03 PM

Alex Gordon went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

Gordon has really scuffled in June, batting just .154 over 17 games. He still sports a .288/.344/.416 batting line with six homers and 36 RBI, so fantasy owners can't complain too much.
