Jaguars UDFA Allen Hurns is expected to open the season as the team's No. 3 receiver, behind Cecil Shorts and Marqise Lee.

Shorts is the X and Lee the Z receiver in two-wide sets. In the three-wides, we suspect Lee will move inside to the slot, with Shorts and Hurns on the outside. Hurns beat out Mike Brown for the No. 3 role, although he will soon be pushed by recovering second-rounder Allen Robinson (hamstring). Despite Hurns' big August, Robinson is by far the superior stash in Dynasty leagues.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll revealed Monday that Christine Michael (hamstring) is still "banged up."

Michael missed Seattle's preseason finale with a hamstring injury, and his Week 1 availability sounds doubtful with the Seahawks opening up on Thursday night. As to C-Mike's status, Carroll said he'll "figure it out" later in the week. It's worth noting Michael battled injuries throughout his college career. He is currently the No. 3 tailback behind Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin.

Coach Pete Carroll emphasized Monday that the Seahawks will make it a priority to try to keep Percy Harvin healthy.

Since the Seahawks are subjecting Harvin to injury on kickoff returns, we suspect this means his snaps on offense will be limited. When he's on the field, however, Harvin should consistently be the favorite for targets in Seattle's pass-catcher corps, and he will run high-percentage routes. The Seahawks did not give Harvin rushing attempts in the preseason, but we fully expect to see him align in two-back sets opposite Marshawn Lynch this year.

Colts C Khaled Holmes (ankle) is a "long shot" to be ready for Sunday's opener against the Broncos.

Waivers acquisition (and former Colts starter) A.Q. Shipley ran with the first team in Monday's practice. Holmes will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, but Week 2 is looking more realistic. Holmes has been sidelined since August 7.

Seahawks activated SLB Bruce Irvin (hip) from the reserve/PUP list.

He'll practice Monday. The Seahawks are likely to open the season with a starting linebacker trio of Bobby Wagner (MLB), K.J. Wright (WLB), and Malcolm Smith (WLB), although Irvin will eventually push for snaps on the outside. Irvin also provides versatility as a spot rusher at "Leo" linebacker.

Jacques McClendon has been named the Jaguars' starting center over sixth-round rookie Luke Bowanko.

A fifth-year pro, McClendon's lone two starts came at left guard last season. McClendon was shaky in the preseason. It's a trouble spot for the Jags. RG Brandon Linder could eventually kick to the middle.
Sep 1 - 3:33 PM

Speaking Monday, Cowboys SLB Bruce Carter said Justin Durant will man the weak-side, and that Rolando McClain will start in the middle.

That may be the Cowboys' starting trio, but Durant is expected to be the only every-down player. Fourth-rounder Anthony Hitchens should mix in with McClain, who hasn't started a game since November 2012. The Cowboys are using duct tape and glue as they attempt to assemble their 2014 defense.

Raiders signed CB Ras-I Dowling to the practice squad.

The No. 33 overall pick of the 2011 draft was waived by the Jets at final cuts. Dowling didn't appear in a regular-season game in 2013.
