Justin Upton launched a two-run homer Sunday in the Tigers' defeat of the Dodgers.

It was a part of a four-run bottom of the sixth inning. Upton now has 26 home runs and 90 RBI for the year along with a sparking .912 OPS. The 29-year-old outfielder can opt out of his contract with Detroit this offseason.

Curtis Granderson hit his first homer as a member of the Dodgers in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

It was a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning off Tigers starter Justin Verlander. Granderson, acquired from the Mets on Saturday for minor league pitcher Jacob Rhame, should get regular starts in left field against right-handed pitching. He's up to 20 total home runs for the year.

Kenta Maeda allowed four earned runs over six innings Sunday in a loss to the Tigers.

Maeda struck out seven batters and didn't issue a walk, but the Tigers rattled off five hits against him -- including two doubles and a Justin Upton two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. Maeda is now 11-5 on the season with a 3.88 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 111/27 K/BB ratio in 111 1/3 innings. He'll face the Brewers at home next.

Dexter Fowler (back) is back in the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Fowler didn't play Saturday due to a sore back, but he's feeling well enough a day later to give it a go. He's in center field and batting cleanup against Ivan Nova and the Pirates. The Cards are also giving the recently recalled Stephen Piscotty a start, as Tommy Pham is receiving a day off.

Trea Turner (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

It's unclear how many rehab games Turner will need, but he's missed nearly two months of action so he'll need to knock some rust off. Still, a return before the end of the month, or perhaps even before the end of the week, would seem to be doable. Turner still ranks as the No. 4 shortstop in fantasy this season even after all the missed time.

Dodgers claimed RHP Jordan Jankowski off waivers from the Astros; optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Jankowski hasn't had a great year either in the majors or minors, but he's missed bats consistently as a pro. The 28-year-old will give the Dodgers additional relief depth.
Aug 20 - 2:11 PM

Mets acquired RHP Jacob Rhame from the Dodgers to complete the trade of OF Curtis Granderson.

Rhame, 24, holds a 3.29 ERA and 70/28 K/BB ratio over 63 innings at the Triple-A level this season. A hard thrower who is now on the Mets' 40-man roster, Rhame could debut before the end of 2017.

Joe Panik (concussion) did some sprints on the field on Sunday.

It's a positive sign as he works his way back from post-concussion symptoms. Panik should slowly ramp up his activities this week as tolerated, but the Giants will obviously be cautious with him.
