A.J. Cole (triceps) remains shut down from throwing but is "feeling better," according to Nationals manager Dusty Baker.

It's unclear when he might be ready to resume a throwing program, but it seems unlikely at this point that he'll be an option for Opening Day. Cole is set to begin the season at Triple-A Syracuse.

Nationals re-assigned RHP Erick Fedde to minor league camp.

Fedde made a favorable impression, putting up a 3.29 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 13 2/3 innings. He has a shot to debut at some point this season.

Joe Beimel has signed with the New Britain Bees of of the independent Atlantic League.

The 13-year major league veteran spent some time at Triple-A in the Royals organization last season before being released. Beimel will turn 40 shortly after Opening Day but obviously isn't ready to call it quits yet.

Phillies optioned RHP Jake Thompson to Triple-A Lehigh Valley; re-assigned RHP Dalier Hinojosa, INF Hector Gomez and C Logan Moore to minor league camp.

Thompson was already on the outside looking in for a rotation spot when he arrived to camp, and he fell further behind when he got a late start due to a sore wrist. The good news is he's healthy now and there should be an opportunity for him in the Phils' rotation at some point this season.

Phillies optioned OF Tyler Goeddel to Double-A Reading.

The Phils kept Goeddel around all season last year after picking him in the Rule 5 Draft even though he batted just .192/.258/.291, but now they can send him down without losing him. The 24-year-old could use some more seasoning.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic writes that the Diamondbacks "appear to be at least considering" using Archie Bradley as a reliever.

There's simply not room for him in the rotation. Bradley got off to a poor start this spring but has been terrific the last three times out, which includes five shutout innings with just one hit allowed in a minor league game Wednesday. "With the way I’m throwing the baseball right now, the way I feel, the way the ball is coming out, I’m comfortable in any role, in any capacity," Bradley said. "Just put me on this team."

According to Sung Min Kim, reports out of Korea are stating that Jung Ho Kang has been denied a work visa to enter the United States.

The report also states that there is suspicion Kang was convicted of drunk driving in a third country other than Korea and the United States. Kang was given an eight-month suspended sentence earlier this month as a result of his third DUI arrest in Korea. Kim says that with this latest news, Kang's chances of playing for the Pirates this season "got cloudy." The Pirates should have an update on the third baseman later Friday. David Freese will be the club's regular at the hot corner for as long as Kang is away.

Marlins optioned OF Isaac Galloway to Triple-A New Orleans.

Galloway went 6-for-27 with a homer this spring. He's a non-prospect.
