Ruben Tejada (quad) remains unable to do any lateral movements.

Tejada is limited to fielding grounders hit right at him, as well as hitting off a tee. He missed seven weeks with a right quad strain last season, and it's looking like he could miss that much time again, which would put his return in mid-July.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Wednesday that he expects David DeJesus (shoulder) to miss about a month.

DeJesus on Monday was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain, an injury he suffered when he slammed into the center field fence last Friday. The Cubs will use Ryan Sweeney as their primary center fielder while DeJesus is out.

Asdrubal Cabrera (quad) will take batting practice Friday for the first time since hitting the DL.

Cabrera has been on the shelf since June 4 because of a right quad strain. He should be cleared to return to the Indians' active roster in less than two weeks.

Josh Hamilton is batting seventh Wednesday for the first time since signing with the Angels.

Hamilton has hit primarily second, fourth or fifth in the Anaheim batting order but will get a big bump to seventh on Wednesday night. The $125 million man is sporting a rough .213/.269/.388 slash line this season.

Derek Jeter (ankle) took batting practice Wednesday for the first time since his second ankle fracture.

It's another big step for the rehabbing shortstop, who is working out at the Yankees' spring training complex in Tampa, Florida. Jeter has been hitting off a tee and doing light fielding drills for about a week and is currently on track to return to the Yankees' active roster shortly after the All-Star break.

Sean Marshall (shoulder) is long-tossing at 120 feet.

"He threw very well today," Reds trainer Paul Lessard told reporters on Wednesday evening. Marshall is expected to return from the disabled list around early July.
Jun 19 - 5:44 PM

Jonathan Broxton (elbow) is expected to resume throwing at some point this weekend.

Broxton has been idle since being placed on the disabled list June 14 with a right elbow flexor strain. "He’s been working on strengthening it," trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday. "He finally has his full range of motion back. We wanted to get it flushed out." There is no timetable for the right-hander's return.

David Price (triceps) is scheduled to make his first rehab start on Friday with High-A Charlotte.

Price will have to make at least two total starts in the minor leagues before the Rays consider activating him from the disabled list. The ace left-hander has been sidelined since May 15 with a left triceps strain. He felt "great" after a bullpen session Tuesday.
