Jose Abreu finished 4-for-5 with two homers and three RBI as the White Sox topped the Mariners 10-4 on Monday.

Abreu has gotten off to slow starts the last couple of years, but that's not the case this season, as he has six homers already. The multihomer game was the 12th of his career. Half of those have come since the beginning of 2017.

Yankees designated RHP David Hale for assignment.

Hale's reward for tossing two scoreless relief innings Monday is a boot off the 40-man roster. He's being replaced by A.J. Cole, who was acquired via trade.
Apr 23 - 11:38 PM

Carson Fulmer pitched six innings of two-run ball for a victory over the Mariners on Monday.

It's Fulmer's first win in four starts this year, and he lowered his ERA to 6.00. What chance there was of him losing his rotation spot in the short term disappeared when Miguel Gonzalez landed on the disabled list. Still, he's not a good bet in any fantasy format.
Apr 23 - 11:37 PM

Yankees acquired RHP A.J. Cole from the Nationals for cash considerations.

Cole had been designated for assignment but now has a new home and will be added to the 25-man roster. The right-hander is a former top prospect but has posted a 5.32 ERA over 110 major league innings. He'll operate in a long relief role in New York.
Apr 23 - 11:37 PM

Mike Leake was lit up for eight runs and 12 hits in 3 1/3 innings by the White Sox on Monday.

Leake gave up hits to the first seven batters he faced, leading to a five-run first, but the Mariners left him in anyway and threw away any shot they might have had of coming back tonight. Leake has gotten worse every time out this year; his ERAs by outing are 2.57, 3.60, 4.50, 7.20 and now 21.60. His rotation spot is safe, and he still has some value in AL-only leagues.
Apr 23 - 11:35 PM

Yoan Moncada homered, tripled, doubled and scored three times Monday against he Mariners.

He strikes out an awful lot, but there aren't many batters who make harder contact than Moncada. While he's not going to hit for average, there's a good chance he'll do enough elsewhere to finish the year as a top-10 second baseman.
Apr 23 - 11:33 PM

Mitch Haniger collected his eighth homer and fifth double Monday against the White Sox.

Haniger is already halfway to last year's homer total (16 in 369 at-bats). The Mariners could eventually consider installing him as a No. 2 hitter and dropping either Dee Gordon or Jean Segura in the lineup. It's not that either speedster has done anything wrong, but Haniger deserves to be hitting higher than sixth right now.
Apr 23 - 11:31 PM

Mike Zunino went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer Monday against the White Sox.

Zunino owners who didn't activate him today have reason to rejoice. He had been 0-for-9 with six strikeouts since coming off the disabled list on Friday.
