Jon Lester surrendered three runs on six hits in his 5 1/3 innings of work against the Padres on Sunday.

Lester's career as a Chicago Cub is off to a less than stellar start. His outing against the Padres was at least better by degrees than the six-run debacle he put up against the Reds in his last start. Versus the Padres, Lester gave up a two-run homer to Will Middlebrooks in the the third inning and after working into trouble in the sixth, he was pulled with two on and one out. Will Venable subsequently finished off Lester's line with an RBI hit. Lester struck out four and walked two in the contest while lowering his ERA to 6.89. That might look ghastly, but Lester owners should take solace in the fact that for the left-hander's career, April and May have been his worst months in terms of ERA. Historically, he gets better as the weather warms. Lester will face the Reds in his next start.

Twins prospect Adam Brett Walker left the yard twice Saturday for Double-A Chattanooga

Both homers came in the first game of a double-header. Walker's free swinging approach has been a double-edged sword. He's slugged four homers already but also has 15 strikeouts in only 33 at-bats. Walker should continue to be a boom or bust hitter as he makes his way up through the Twins' system.

Mets prospect Michael Conforto continued his power binge with another home run Saturday for High-A St. Lucie.

He has eight RBI in his last four games. St. Lucie has been batting him in the No. 3 spot and for good reason. He's hitting .333 with a slugging percentage that would rival Barry Bonds in his prime. New York drafted Conforto in the first round last year out of Oregon State. So far, the 22-year-old has lived up to his massive billing.

Torii Hunter hit a three-run home run against the Indians on Sunday.

This was Hunter's first homer since signing with the Twins in the off-season. He hit the three-run shot off of Indians reliever Anthony Swarzak. It would be his only hit in the contest, as he finished 1-for-5. Hunter now has six RBI for the season and is hitting .225/.256/.350. In his first stint with the Twins, Hunter launched 297 home runs. Add one more to that total.

Carlos Santana hit a solo home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's loss to the Twins.

J.R. Graham served up the solo shot, but at that point, the Twins were already up 7-1 and Santana's dinger barely put a dent in the final score. For the season, Santana has two home runs and seven RBI. He's hitting .244/.354/.415 over 41 at-bats to start the 2015 campaign.

Trevor May pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Indians on Sunday.

Outside of a Michael Brantley RBI single in the third, May didn't see much trouble in this one. He allowed just four hits, none of the extra-base variety. May also struck out four without a walk. It was a nice start for the 25-year-old, who's currently pitching in place of the injured Ricky Nolasco. We would need to see him repeat this kind of start a few times before recommending him for fantasy play, though, especially given the 7.88 ERA and 1.77 WHIP he posted for the Twins over 45 2/3 innings last season. May will continue trying to distance himself from those numbers on his road date with the Mariners next time he takes the ball.

Vic Black is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his shoulder/neck.

Black had been expected to rejoin the Mets bullpen next week, but his velocity has been down in his minor league rehab appearances, and the Mets want to ensure that everything is alright. They should have an update on his status on Monday.

T.J. House allowed five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Twins on Sunday.

House walked two and struck out two in the outing. The Twins applied water torture to him in the second inning, scoring runs on a sacrifice fly, an RBI single and a run-scoring grounder. Shane Robinson added an RBI single in the fourth inning and the final run on House's line came via a Torii Hunter homer after the pitcher had left the game. House's 14.14 ERA theoretically has nowhere to go but down from here, assuming Danny Salazar does not replace him in the rotation. Should House make his next start, it will come against the Tigers.
