Vidal Nuno is expected to start on Sunday against the Rays.

The Yankees need a spot starter following Wednesday's doubleheader, and Nuno makes the most sense. He last pitched on April 8 and got up to 67 pitches in the outing (though he allowed seven runs over 3 1/3 innings).

Adam Lind (back) will be re-evaluated after doing some drills Friday.

Lind was removed from Tuesday's game with lower back tightness. If he feels alright after doing drills Friday, he'll avoid the disabled list. If he doesn't, he could be the roster move the Blue Jays make when they activate Jose Reyes (hamstring) from the DL on Saturday.

MRIs on Carlos Beltran's left shoulder and right wrist came back clean.

Beltran underwent the precautionary tests after flipping over a short fence in foul territory during Thursday's game. He's sore and sitting out Friday's game but is hoping to be back in there Saturday.

Coco Crisp is back in the Athletics' lineup Friday.

Crisp pinch-hit on Wednesday and Thursday, but this is his first start Sunday due to a minor hamstring issue. He's batting .292/.455/.500 with one homer and four steals for the A's this season.

Giants prospect LHP Edwin Escobar has gotten off to a slow start this season, posting an 8.53 ERA through his first 12 2/3 innings for Triple-A Fresno.

The 21-year-old has allowed a total of 22 hits over his three starts this season, and opposing hitters are raking against him at a .379 clip. However, none of those 22 hits have left the yard (which is all the more impressive considering Fresno plays in the notoriously hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League), and Escobar has still posted an impressive 17/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The left-hander profiles as a No. 4 or 5 starter in the major leagues and should debut with the Giants at some point this season.

Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports that Jeremy Jeffress is expected to sign a minor league deal with the Brewers.

Passan says Jeffress was spotted at the Brewers' spring training complex. Jeffress is a former first-round pick of the Brewers and cracked the majors with them before being sent to the Royals as part of the Zack Greinke deal.

Athletics signed LHP Sean Doolittle to a four-year contract extension.

The deal was announced as a five-year contract, but it includes this season. The A's will also have club options for 2019 and 2020. The financials of the contract are not yet known. Doolittle would have been eligible for arbitration for the first time this winter, so the new deal will buy out his arbitration years and possibly his first two years of free agency. Doolittle holds a 3.10 ERA with 129 strikeouts over 125 innings over his first 122 relief appearances for the A's.

Giants prospect OF Mac Williamson was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three runs on Thursday for High-A San Jose.

The home runs was Williamson's first of the season, and he's now batting .235/.371/.737 with five extra-base hits, four steals and a 9/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 15 games. The 23-year-old outfielder spent all of 2013 at San Jose and put up big numbers (albeit as an older player in the hitter-friendly California League), batting .292/.375/.504 with 31 doubles, 25 home runs, 10 stolen bases and 132/51 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 136 games. Williamson's power profiles nicely as a big-league corner outfielder, but there's doubt as to whether his bat will develop enough to get there.
