James Loney has officially been added to the Mets' 25-man roster.

Loney was acquired from the Padres on Saturday for cash and will be thrown into the Mets' starting lineup Tuesday night against the White Sox. He should start regularly at first base against right-handed pitching, at least until Lucas Duda (back) returns. Loney was hitting the ball well at Triple-A El Paso before the trade and is worthy of consideration in deeper fantasy formats now that he's in a good position for playing time.

Mets optioned 1B/3B Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Campbell has batted just .159/.270/.222 in 74 plate appearances this season at the major league level. He's making room on the roster Tuesday for James Loney.

David Wright was given a pain-killing injection for his neck injury on Tuesday.

The veteran third baseman revealed to reporters Monday that he's been diagnosed with a herniated disk in his neck and he is out of the Mets' starting lineup on Tuesday night. The hope is this pain-killing injection will help him avoid the 15-day disabled list.
May 31 - 4:04 PM

Mets designated RHP Jeff Walters for assignment.

The move clears a 40-man roster spot for James Loney, who was acquired from the Padres on Saturday and will officially join the Mets on Tuesday night. Walters, 28, had a 9.27 ERA through 22 1/3 innings this season at Triple-A Las Vegas. He's never appeared in a major league game.

Joba Chamberlain (intercostal) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Saturday.

He tossed a bullpen session Monday without issue and will go through a similar workout Wednesday before facing live hitters. Chamberlain has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 23 with an intercostal muscle strain. He should be ready to return in early June if everything goes smoothly from here.
May 31 - 3:55 PM

Sergio Romo (elbow) did not make his scheduled appearance Monday at High-A San Jose.

Romo is still dealing with some fatigue from last week, per Giants general manager Bobby Evans. He was scheduled to pitch Monday and Tuesday in High-A ball before rejoining the Giants' bullpen on Thursday. It's not clear what the plan is now. Romo has been on the disabled list since mid-April with a flexor muscle strain.
May 31 - 3:50 PM

Brian McCann is out of the Yankees' starting lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

He's getting a day off with southpaw J.A. Happ on the hill for Toronto. Austin Romine will start behind the dish and catch CC Sabathia.
May 31 - 3:46 PM

Brett Gardner is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

He'll take a seat against left-hander J.A. Happ. Aaron Hicks will start in left field and bat ninth. Rob Refsnyder is hitting second and playing right field.
