Todd Frazier failed to pick up a hit in Friday's loss to the Brewers, finishing the game 0-for-3.

The Reds managed just one extra-base hit in the entire contest and just one run, as the Brewers put up a rare beatdown to the tune of 12-1. Frazier's hit-less game does nothing to obscure what's been a great season to this point. The third baseman is currently slashing .281/.341/.600 with 25 homers, 54 RBI, 54 runs scored and eight steals.

Garrett Richards was dominant in Friday's victory over the Rangers, allowing just one run on six hits over 7 2/3 innings of work.

The right-hander punched out six on the night while issuing just one walk. The only blemish on his evening was an RBI single by Adrian Beltre in the sixth inning. Now 9-5 on the season, Richards sports a terrific 3.35 ERA and 74/34 K/BB ratio over 94 innings. He'll look to carry over this strong effort when he squares off against the Mariners in Seattle on Thursday.
Jul 3 - 11:27 PM

Ryan Rua blasted his third home run of the season on Friday as the Rangers fell to the Angels.

Rua didn't draw the start in the ballgame, with his lone at-bat coming against Mike Morin in the ninth inning. With the return of Josh Hamilton to the Rangers lineup, he's going to struggle to find his way into the lineup on a nightly basis, especially while hitting just .208/.224/.438.
Jul 3 - 11:23 PM

Mike Fiers pitched a superb game against the Reds on Friday, hurling seven innings of shutout ball in the 12-1 win.

Fiers struck out only two, but he counteracted his lack of strikeouts by limiting the Reds to just three hits while walking only one. The strong start comes on the heels of a seven-inning, one-run performance against the Twins. Pitching for a bad Brewers team, Fiers has quietly posted a respectable 3.87 ERA, though the 1.42 WHIP is on the high side. A home start against the Braves is up next.
Jul 3 - 11:22 PM

Michael Lorenzen failed to give the Reds length on Friday, surrendering three runs on five hits over four innings against the Brewers.

Both Gerardo Parra and Aramis Ramirez took Lorenzen deep, accounting for two of the three runs scored against him. He struck out three and walked two in what was a pedestrian outing. With a 3.48 ERA over 59 2/3 innings, Lorenzen's been on the decent side of things more often than not, though his 1.47 WHIP makes it difficult to believe that the ERA will stick under 4.00 for the entire season. A road date with the Nationals awaits next on the schedule.
Jul 3 - 11:21 PM

Chi Chi Gonzalez was hammered in Friday's loss to the Angels, allowing six runs on five hits in just 1 2/3 innings.

Gonzalez also issued a pair of walks while striking out one. All of the damage against him came during a six-run uprising in the second inning. It's the second time in his last three starts that he has allowed six runs, watching his ERA rise from 0.90 to 3.74. He'll look to get back on track on Friday when he takes on the Padres.
Jul 3 - 11:19 PM

Jose Abreu's solo home run in the third inning was the only run to score in Friday's 1-0 win over the Orioles.

The homer was Abreu's 14th of the season. Given how thoroughly he dominated in his rookie season, it's easy to shrug off Abreu's 2015 campaign as a disappointment, but the production's been there. Just to a less Godzilla-esque degree. Abreu's slashing .291/.341/.495 with 14 homers and 44 RBI this season.
Jul 3 - 11:17 PM

David Robertson struck out all three batters he faced, earning the save in Friday's 1-0 win over the Orioles.

Robertson fanned Matt Wieters, Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy in an impressive display of casual dominance. He has had poor moments this season and is a sketchy 17-for-21 in save chances, but he also carries a 48/7 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings. With a 2.67 ERA, we expect him to continue to put up big numbers from the closer role.
