Cubs placed OF Jorge Soler on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain.

Soler suffered the injury Monday while running to first base and hadn't shown enough improvement over the last couple of days to warrant staying active. The 23-year-old Cuban should be ready when his 15 days are up. Junior Lake figures to get a nice boost in playing time over the next two weeks.

Marlins 2B prospect Brian Anderson finished a home run shy of the cycle Tuesday in a win for High-A Jupiter.

Anderson plated four runs for the Hammerheads while contributing his first three-hit game of the season. The 22-year-old has hit .405 over his last ten games with nine RBI. Anderson is still batting just .247 for the year but the Marlins shouldn't be worried. Keep in mind, this is Anderson's first full season in the minors after being drafted in the third round in 2014.

Robinson Chirinos (hand) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup Wednesday versus the White Sox.

Chirinos was hit on the hand by a pitch Tuesday night. X-rays were negative, but he has some swelling. Carlos Corporan is starting at catcher and batting eighth.
Jun 3 - 4:12 PM

Brian Dozier went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a single and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Dozier's longball in the third inning knotted things up at 1-1, but the Twins were outscored 5-2 the rest of the way. A late Eduardo Escobar homer made things a little more interesting, but the outcome wasn't ever in doubt. Dozier now sports a .260/.339/.526 batting line with 10 dingers and 26 RBI.

Prince Fielder is out of the Rangers' lineup Wednesday.

It's just a day of rest for Fielder, who had started all 52 games this season. Mitch Moreland is at first base and Joey Gallo will DH on Wednesday against the White Sox.
Jun 3 - 4:09 PM

Josh Hamilton (hamstring) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup again on Wednesday night.

Hamilton has some mild tightness in his left hamstring and the Rangers are going to play it safe with the 33-year-old slugger. Jake Smolinski is in left field and Joey Gallo is at DH on Wednesday versus the White Sox.

Hector Gomez tested negative for a concussion.

Gomez left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals after going head-first into the stands while trying to track down a foul pop-up. He remained in the stands for several minutes as trainers carefully attended to him, but Gomez was eventually able to walk back to the Brewers' dugout under his own power. Consider him day-to-day.
Jun 3 - 4:05 PM

Edwin Encarnacion (hamstring) is out of the Blue Jays' starting lineup again on Wednesday night.

Encarnacion has been limited to pinch-hitting duties over the last few days due to discomfort in his left hamstring. It doesn't sound like anything too severe. Justin Smoak will start at first base Wednesday at Nationals Park.
