Matt Garza allowed four earned runs over 5 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Mets.

He walked two and gave up seven hits. Garza has now struggled in two straight starts and it seems likely that his ERA will continue to rise. It jumped from 3.60 to 3.98 on Monday afternoon at Citi Field.

Astros optioned RHP Jordan Jankowski to Triple-A Fresno.

It comes shortly after Jankowski earned his first major league victory following a 2 1/3-inning relief appearance in which he surrendered four runs. The Astros haven't announced a corresponding move.

Twins recalled LHP Buddy Boshers from Triple-A Rochester.

The Twins needed a fresh relief arm. Boshers has allowed one run over three relief innings with the big club this season.

Twins optioned RHP Drew Rucinski to Triple-A Rochester.

Rucinski was lit up for three runs in an inning of work Monday to earn a trip back to the minors. Buddy Boshers will replace him in the bullpen.

Parker Bridwell will make his first major league start Tuesday versus the Braves.

It will just be a spot start with Alex Meyer (back) set to return Sunday. Acquired last month from Orioles, Bridwell was supposed to move to the bullpen this season but switched back to starting and has fared well, posting a 3.31 ERA and 32/4 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings. He's not a great streaming option.

Edwin Diaz worked a perfect ninth inning for his ninth save Monday in the Mariners' 6-5 defeat of the Rockies.

Diaz struck out Gerardo Parra and Trevor Story before inducing a game-ending groundout from Tony Wolters. The young right-hander spent nine days in the dog house earlier this month while he worked through some mechanical issues, but he's back in Seattle's ninth-inning role now and carries the upside of a top-tier fantasy closer moving forward.
May 29 - 6:53 PM

Charlie Blackmon slugged his 13th home run of the year Monday in the Rockies' loss to the Mariners.

Blackmon tagged Mariners starter Sam Gaviglio for a solo shot in the bottom of the third inning, finishing the day 1-for-4. The 30-year-old center fielder has been one of the best players in baseball through the first two months of the season, with his .329 batting average, .989 OPS, 13 home runs, 46 RBI, four stolen bases, and 38 runs scored in 52 games.
May 29 - 6:50 PM

David Holmberg allowed three runs over four innings Monday against the Red Sox in a 5-4 win.

The soft-tossing southpaw gave up only two hits, but he walked three and needed 72 pitches to cover his four frames. Holmberg should get another start this weekend in Detroit with James Shields (lat) not ready yet. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues.
