Steve Pearce went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox.

He doubled and scored in the first inning, then added an RBI-single in the fifth. The 35-year-old veteran has been a solid hitter throughout his career when healthy -- the problem is he has rarely been healthy for long. He is rocking a .314/.375/.569 slash line with three homers and 11 RBI in 56 plate appearances and makes for a good fantasy play whenever he is in the Blue Jays' lineup.

Yangervis Solarte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as his club fell to the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The bomb came off starter Eduardo Rodriguez in the sixth inning. Solarte is making a strong first impression with his new team and is getting lots of playing time in the absence of Troy Tulowitzki. He has a .237/.352/.513 slash line with six home runs, 11 RBI and 14 runs scored in 21 games.

Tim Lincecum (blister) is headed to Arizona to begin a throwing program.

Lincecum will begin the program on Friday and throw in Arizona while the Rangers on the road. If everything goes as planned, the right-hander could begin a rehab assignment on May 6. That would put him on track to be activated in late May, which is when he'll be eligible to be activated from the 60-day disabled list.

Aaron Sanchez allowed two runs in six innings and had to settle for a no-decision against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

He served up a solo homer to Mookie Betts leading off the game, then settled down until surrendering an RBI double to Brock Holt in the fifth. Sanchez gave up just three hits on the night while fanning eight in the contest. His record holds at 1-2 with a 3.69 ERA in five starts. He has 23 strikeouts and 15 walks in 31 2/3 innings.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway told reporters that he wouldn't commit to Stephen Matz making his next start.

Matz is scheduled to throw on Tuesday against the Braves. It sounds like that start might be in jeopardy now. "We need to sit down and talk to Matz and figure out how we can help him," Callaway told reporters. The southpaw has yet to go more than 5 1/3 innings in any of his starts, and he's gone four or less in three of the five. We recently saw the Mets remove Matt Harvey from the rotation. We might see the same thing with Matz.

Joey Wendle went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one stolen base and a run scored in an 8-4 win over the Orioles on Wednesday.

He singled to drive in Daniel Robertson in both the fifth and seventh innings. The second baseman has been surprisingly good at the plate this year, slashing .328/.400/.492 with one homer and eight RBI in 20 games.

Adeiny Hechavarria went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in a win over the Orioles on Wednesday.

He launched one off reliever Miguel Castro in the sixth inning for his second bomb of the season. He is serving as the Rays' starting shortstop this year and is doing a good job at the plate, sporting a .288 batting average with 12 RBI and nine runs in 81 plate appearances at the bottom of the batting order.
Apr 25 - 11:17 PM

Jake Faria surrendered four runs in 4 1/3 innings and did not get a decision as his club beat the Orioles on Wednesday.

The big blow was a two-run double by nine-hole batter Jace Peterson in the second inning. Faria allowed four hits and three walks while notching five strikeouts in the short outing. He has struggled with his control this year, leading to a 6.33 ERA with 20 strikeouts and 14 walks in 21 1/3 innings through his first five starts.
