Shae Simmons (elbow) felt soreness in his right triceps during a recent appearance at Triple-A Gwinnett.
The good news is he's already feeling better and hopes to resume throwing next week. Simmons has completed a rehab from Tommy John surgery and should join the Braves' bullpen before long if he's healthy.
Athletics optioned 1B/C Matt McBride to Triple-A Nashville.
McBride has picked up four hits in 18 at-bats with the big club this season. He'll return to a utility role at Nashville.
Athletics activated C Josh Phegley from the 15-day disabled list.
Phegley missed a couple weeks with right knee inflammation, but he's ready to go. He'll go back to starting against lefties.
Rangers placed RHP Shawn Tolleson on the family medical emergency list.
Tolleson is allowed to spend 3-7 days on the list. He was recently bumped from the Rangers' closer role.
Rangers recalled INF Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock.
Profar is starting at second base and batting leadoff for the Rangers on Friday and could remain in both places for the next week while Rougned Odor serves his suspension. After missing two seasons with ongoing shoulder issues, Profar has batted .284/.356/.426 with five homers and four steals across 189 plate appearances with Round Rock this season. His stay with the big club could be short, but he's worth owning in fantasy leagues while he's up.
David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.
It looks to be a routine day of rest. The Red Sox have Hanley Ramirez in the designated hitter spot, Travis Shaw at first base and Marco Hernandez at third base Friday.
Yan Gomes is absent from the Indians' lineup Friday.

Major League Baseball has upheld Jose Bautista's one-game suspension.
Bautista tried to get the suspension thrown out via the appeals process but was denied. He'll serve the suspension on Friday against the Red Sox. Ezequiel Carrera is getting a start in right field in Bautista's place.
