Chris Johnson rushed for 34 yards on ten carries in Monday night's Week 3 loss to the Bears.

He was targeted just twice in the passing game, but didn't reel either pass in, while one was picked off and returned for a touchdown. Johnson was outplayed big time by Chris Ivory in this one, and has been through the first three games of the season. Ivory's touches should continue to rise, and it could come at Johnson's expense. He's not a recommended Week 4 play vs. Detroit.
Sep 23 - 12:14 AM

Alshon Jeffery caught eight passes for 105 yards in the Bears' Week 3 win over the Jets.

With Brandon Marshall (ankle) clearly not 100 percent, Jeffery saw a team-high 13 targets. His big catch was a 42-yard gain down the left sideline in Antonio Allen's coverage. Jeffery also drew a 33-yard DPI penalty against Darrin Walls. Both plays led to scores for the Bears. Jeffery could have caught a touchdown, but Jay Cutler overshot him on a 2nd-and-3 pass in the end zone. Jeffery looked like his hamstring wasn't a problem. He'll be a WR1/2 next week vs. Green Bay.
Sep 23 - 12:13 AM

Chris Ivory rushed for 44 yards on ten carries in the Jets' Week 3 loss to the Bears.

He added four catches for 52 yards. Ivory entered the season with five career catches across 39 games, but he now has five grabs through three contests. Chris Johnson continues to get the starts over Ivory, with each splitting touches, but it's clear Ivory is the more talented back. Jets beat writers even notice that the offense needs to go through Ivory. He's not afraid of contact and runs as hard as any back in the league. Entering the night, Ivory was averaging 4.4 YPC after contact. If the Jets are smart, they'll increase Ivory's touches at Johnson's expense. Ivory gets a tough Detroit run defense in Week 4.
Sep 23 - 12:05 AM

Matt Forte rushed for 33 yards on 13 carries in the Bears' Week 3 win over the Jets on Monday night.

Forte added six catches for an additional 43 yards. As is normally the case against the Jets, there wasn't much running room to be found for Forte. He had a long run of eight yards, but did manage to pick up a couple of big first downs on third-down conversions. Forte has yet to find the end zone this season, but the sledding should be much easier next Sunday at home against Green Bay.
Sep 23 - 12:01 AM

Geno Smith completed 26-of-43 passes for 316 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the Jets' 27-19, Week 3 loss to the Bears on Monday night.

The stat line looks even better than Smith actually played. After showing considerable signs of improvement the first two weeks of the season, Smith reverted to his rookie-year self in this one. His two interceptions were back-breakers. His first pass of the game was an awful screen toss that was returned for a pick-six, while the second INT came in the red zone and was thrown right to Kyle Fuller in the end zone. Smith's decision-making on the final drive of the game also left many scratching their heads. The Jets host the Lions in Week 4.
Sep 22 - 11:53 PM

Jay Cutler completed 23-of-38 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' Week 3, 27-19 win over the Jets on Monday night.

Cutler and the Bears started off hot, going up 17-3 through 16 minutes of play. But after losing Brandon Marshall to a re-injured ankle, the Jets were able to dial up plenty of blitzes and get to Cutler for four sacks and a number of other hits. Marshall later returned but wasn't near 100 percent and didn't catch a pass for the first time in 117 games. Cutler found Martellus Bennett for both touchdowns, and hooked up with Alshon Jeffery eight times for 105 yards. Cutler will be a mid-range QB1 next week when the Bears host the Packers.
Sep 22 - 11:47 PM

Bears FS Chris Conte exited Monday night's game against the Jets with a shoulder injury and will not return.

Conte hurt his shoulder last Sunday night and underwent extensive surgery on the injured wing in the offseason. He's been a playmaker so far this season, so his loss will be felt. Danny McCray and Brock Vereen will fill in.
Sep 22 - 10:46 PM

Chargers ILB Manti Te'o fractured his foot in Week 3 against the Bills, and is expected to miss multiple weeks.

Te'o isn't expected to be placed on injured reserve. Foot injuries have been a problem for Te'o. He suffered a stress fracture in his right foot in the preseason last year, missed three regular-season games, and had surgery this past offseason. The new injury is to the same foot. Te'o is purely a run stopper, and leads the Chargers with 19 tackles. Kavell Conner will take his spot on defense.
