Clayton Kershaw pitched a three-hitter Monday in the Dodgers' 3-1 victory over the Braves.

Kershaw was given an extra day of rest after throwing 134 pitches last time out, and he made it look easy tonight, throwing 107 pitches in getting his 27 outs. He walked just one and struck out five. The complete game was his second of the season. He's 5-2 with a 1.35 ERA.

Dee Gordon went 0-for-4 and committed his second error at shortstop on Monday.

It might not have been a good thing that Gordon homered twice in his first week back in the majors; he's gone just 2-for-25 since his second bomb on May 11. Gordon has terrific fantasy upside with his speed, but he needs to do much better than this if he hopes to push Hanley Ramirez to third base.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said he plans to use "everybody" at closer.

Michael Dunn saved Sunday's game and Chad Qualls was warming up during a save chance Monday before the Marlins extended their lead. Former full-time closer Steve Cishek holds a 4.91 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the year and has struggled against left-handed batters. "We’re going to use Cishek. We’ll use Qualls. We haven’t had that many save opportunities. We need those guys to pitch. We need Cishek to go down there and log some innings. He’s still going to close games. Qualls might close some games. Dunn might close some games. We need these guys to pitch we need them to stay sharp. They’re all going to contribute."

Matt Kemp launched his second homer of the season Monday off the Dodgers' Yovani Gallardo.

All is right in the world; Kemp again has more homers than Juan Pierre. Kemp's previous homer came back on April 24. He just finished up a series against the Braves in which he went 1-for-13 as the Dodgers were swept.

Jonathan Lucroy went 0-for-4 on Monday and is just 2-for-23 over the last 10 days.

Lucroy is hitting just .208, but manager Ron Roenicke obviously remains a believer; he had Lucroy batting fifth ahead of a .330-hitting Carlos Gomez tonight. Lucroy should prove to be considerably better than he's been thus far, but was in over his head while batting .320 in 96 games last year.

Aramis Ramirez went 0-for-4 in his return to the starting lineup Monday against the Dodgers.

Ramirez didn't play Sunday because of left knee soreness. He might be day-to-day for a while longer.

Johnny Cueto won in his return from the disabled list after allowing three runs and three hits in five innings against the Mets on Monday.

Cueto struck out eight and walked four. One of those walks preceded Marlon Byrd's three-run homer in the third. Following that home run, Cueto struck out four batters in a row. He ended up throwing 90 pitches in his return, 52 of them for strikes.

Aroldis Chapman bounced back from Sunday's blown save by pitching a perfect ninth in a one-run game against the Mets on Monday.

Chapman struck out two in earning his ninth save. He had blown back-to-back opportunities.
