Koji Uehara - R - Red Sox

Koji Uehara notched his first save of the season in Friday's 3-2 win over the Twins in 10 innings.

The Red Sox pulled ahead in the top of the 10th on a sacrifice fly by Jonny Gomes and Uehara sat the Twins down in order to finish off the victory. Junichi Tazawa is supposed to be the fill-in closer, but he was unavailable after throwing 25 pitches over two innings on Thursday night. Oddly enough, Tazawa has yet to get a save opportunity with Andrew Bailey (biceps) and Joel Hanrahan (elbow) both sidelined. And with Bailey due back on Monday, his window is closing.

Clay Buchholz - S - Red Sox

Clay Buchholz yielded two runs in seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Twins.

His only mistake was a two-run homer by Pedro Florimon in the third inning, but it cost him a chance at the victory. Buchholz gave up four hits and three walks in the no-decision and struck out nine batters. While Buchholz is winless over his last three starts, he has a brilliant a 1.78 ERA and 1.04 WHIP to go along with a 69/24 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 innings. He'll get the White Sox next week.

Vance Worley - S - Twins

Vance Worley showed some signs of life Friday, as he limited the Red Sox to one unearned run over six innings as part of a no-decision.

Worley gave up an RBI single to David Ortiz in the first inning, but he held the Red Sox off the board the rest of the way. All told, he allowed six hits and three walks while striking out one. Still, Worley owns an ugly 6.20 ERA through nine starts and will need to get more swings-and-misses to be an asset in fantasy leagues.

David Ortiz - DH - Red Sox

David Ortiz went 3-for-4 with an RBI single Friday against the Twins.

Ortiz has now hit safely in five straight games, but this was his first multi-hit game since April 30. Hopefully this is a sign that his recent oblique issue is behind him.

Josh Willingham - OF - Twins

Josh Willingham was hitless in four at-bats Friday and is hitting .198 for the year.

Willingham is hitting just .125 (6-for-48) this month and hasn't homered since April 29. It's fair to assume that his recent wrist soreness is a factor. We're not expecting 35 home runs again, but this might not be a bad time to buy low.

Mark Ellis - 2B - Dodgers

Mark Ellis was removed early from Friday's rehab game as a precautionary measure due to poor field conditions.

Ellis was supposed to play four innings and receive two at bats, but a rainy night at Double-A Chattanooga forced him out after only three innings and one at-bat. It's certainly encouraging news to hear that it wasn't an injury related setback that caused the early exit.

David Freese - 3B - Cardinals

David Freese launched a grand slam in Friday's 7-6 win over the Brewers.

Well, that's one way to bust out of a slump. Freese entered play Friday homerless over his first 27 games this season. With the grand slam, he notched his first RBI since May 2. The Cardinals and fantasy owners are hoping that this night will serve as a turning point for his season.

Jaime Garcia - S - Cardinals

Jaime Garcia got the win Friday night against the Brewers despite giving up six runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Hey, fantasy owners will take it. Garcia allowed six hits and a walk while all the damage was courtesy of a pair of two-run homers by Aramis Ramirez. The southpaw has allowed 11 runs over his last two starts, increasing his ERA from 2.25 to 3.58 on the year. Still, he'll carry a 5-2 record into a start against the Padres next week in San Diego.
