Mike Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored Monday against the Athletics.

Moustakas is hitting just .204 (11-for-54) this spring, but he has slugged five homers along the way. He could be a sneaky option in fantasy leagues after missing most of last season with a torn ACL. The 28-year-old hit 22 homers with an .817 OPS back in 2015.

Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base in Monday’s win over the Athletics.

After injuries limited Cain to 103 games last season, he has put together a strong spring by batting .286 (12-for-42) with an .830 OPS. The 30-year-old is capable of making an impact across all categories in fantasy leagues, but his health is a bit of a red flag. He’s one of a few prominent Royals going into their walk year.

X-rays on Joe Panik's right scapula came back negative.

Panik was plunked by a pitch Monday, but he merely has a bruise. The Giants' second baseman is a nice bounce-back candidate in 2017.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Brandon McCarthy and Alex Wood are competing for the final spot in the rotation.

Hyun-Jin Ryu has shown he's healthy this spring and was named to the rotation by Roberts on Monday. Wood (3.18 ERA, 11/2 K/BB ratio over 11 1/3 innings) has out-pitched McCarthy (4.85 ERA, 7/1 K/BB ratio over 13 innings) this spring, but his relief experience could push him to the bullpen. Ultimately, the winner of the battle is likely just keeping a seat warm for Julio Urias.

Todd Frazier doubled and connected for a solo homer in a 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Monday.

Frazier came into Monday’s action hitting just .161 (5-for-31) with zero homers this spring, so it was nice to see some of signs of life with Opening Day rapidly approaching. The 31-year-old is going to be a batting average risk unless he cuts down on the strikeouts, but he provides enough power and speed to be one of the first half-dozen third basemen off the board in fantasy leagues.

Yasmani Grandal had a two-run single Monday against the White Sox.

While Grandal has cooled down a bit in recent days, he has enjoyed a fine spring, hitting .314 (16-for-51) over 18 games. We don’t expect the .238 career hitter to maintain an average like that during the regular season, but his power and on-base ability comes in handy out of the catcher position.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Hyun-Jin Ryu will be part of the team's rotation.

The Dodgers really had no idea what to expect from Ryu as they entered spring training after he missed virtually all of the last two seasons with shoulder and elbow injuries. However, he's gone out and posted a 2.57 ERA and 12/1 K/BB ratio across 14 Cactus League innings and, most importantly, feels great physically. Ryu obviously remains a big health risk, but the lefty put up a 3.17 ERA over 56 starts in his two healthy seasons with the Dodgers so he needs to be considered in mixed leagues. Brandon McCarthy and Alex Wood will battle for the final spot in the Dodgers' rotation.
Mar 27 - 7:14 PM

Derek Holland yielded two runs in six innings of work against the Dodgers on Monday.

Holland gave up a two-run single to Yasmani Grandal in the bottom of the first, but otherwise he kept the Dodgers off the board. The southpaw allowed five hits and a pair of walks while striking out one. The White Sox signed Holland with the idea of eating up some innings while their young pitchers get some seasoning in the minors, but he’s off the mixed league radar.
