Asdrubal Cabrera is starting at third base Saturday against the Athletics.

It will be his first career start at third base and only his second MLB appearance at the hot corner after playing part of one game there as a rookie in 2007. The Mets, who have already moved Cabrera once this season (and he wasn't happy about it), are transitioning Cabrera to third with second baseman Neil Walker expected to come back off the disabled list any day now. Surely the Mets are also hoping Cabrera's versatility will make him more appealing to teams at the trade deadline.

J.T. Riddle (shoulder) is out of the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Reds.

Riddle is out of the lineup for a third straight day, last appearing as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's loss to Philadelphia. He's day-to-day with a shoulder injury. Miguel Rojas is filling in at shortstop and batting eighth Saturday against Reds right-hander Robert Stephenson.

Orioles activated RHP Mike Wright from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Wright is healthy again after a month-long bout with shoulder bursitis but the Orioles don't have a spot for him right now. He's logged a 5.56 ERA in six relief outings for the O's this year.

Royals optioned OF Billy Burns to Triple-A Omaha.

The 27-year-old speedster hit just .167/.167/.333 in six plate appearances with the big league club. He'll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until he's needed again.
Jul 22 - 3:53 PM

Royals recalled RHP Jake Junis from Triple-A Omaha.

It's unclear if he's joining the club to pitch out of the bullpen or if he'll start in place of Travis Wood on Sunday. Junis owns a 5.66 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 28/16 K/BB ratio across 35 innings with the big league club this season.
Jul 22 - 3:52 PM

Troy Tulowitzki is absent from the Blue Jays starting lineup on Saturday.

It's curious, as it's the second game that he has missed in the past three. Ryan Goins is starting in his place at shortstop and batting eighth for the Blue Jays against Danny Salazar and the Indians.
Jul 22 - 3:49 PM

Blue Jays optioned LHP Jeff Beliveau to Triple-A Buffalo.

The 30-year-old southpaw struggled in his time with the Jays, registering a 7.47 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 17/6 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings. He'll continue to provide bullpen depth at Triple-A.
Jul 22 - 3:43 PM

Blue Jays recalled RHP Chris Smith from Triple-A Buffalo.

The 28-year-old hurler has appeared in just one big league game this year, firing a scoreless inning. He'll function in middle relief for the Blue Jays.
