Ryan Braun went 2-for-5 with a game-tying solo home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Pirates.

With Pirates closer Jason Grilli on to finish the game, Braun took a slider deep to left to knot the score at 2-2. The homer was Braun's sixth of the season. He's also got 14 RBI and is batting .300 for the year, bad thumb and all.
Apr 20 - 6:22 PM

Gerrit Cole allowed one run over eight strong innings of work but settled for a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday.

Cole looked like he was going to secure a hard-earned win before Mark Reynolds hit an eighth inning home run to tie the score at 1-1. He again appeared in line for a victory after the Bucs scored to take the lead in bottom half of the inning, but Jason Grilli was unable to close it out. Still, Cole gave up just six hits and a walk while striking out six in the game. He'll next take on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.
Apr 20 - 6:20 PM

Marco Estrada took a no-decision despite limiting the Pirates to one run on six hits Sunday.

Estrada did his part, allowing only a solo home run to Neil Walker in his six innings, but Pirates starter Gerrit Cole matched him pitch for pitch on the other side. He fanned four while not walking a batter. Luck hasn't been on his side, as he has just one win on the year, but the right-hander owns an attractive 2.66 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. His next outing will come Saturday against the Cubs.
Apr 20 - 6:19 PM

David Wright went 4-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in the Mets' 4-3, 14-inning win over the Braves on Sunday.

All four hits were singles, as the Mets didn't register an extra-base hit in the marathon win. He's got an 11-game hitting streak and is 12-for-24 (.500) in recent days. The four-hit day raised his season average to .316.
Apr 20 - 6:18 PM

Jason Heyward went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Heyward had two singles and a double, scoring in the Braves' three-run fifth inning. He had just three hits in his previous 32 at-bats, as he's still hitting just .171 for the year. Perhaps Sunday will be the start of something good for the outfielder.
Apr 20 - 6:14 PM

Jose Valverde earned his first win of the season after pitching a scoreless 14th inning on Sunday.

After being removed from the closer's role on Saturday, Valverde was called on to keep the game tied Sunday afternoon. He allowed a single but was otherwise spotless, and he was rewarded for his work when the Mets pushed a run across in the bottom half of the inning. He'll need a lot more days like that before he inserts his name back into the Mets' closer discussion.
Apr 20 - 6:10 PM

Lucas Duda went 2-for-5 with his first stolen base of the year in Sunday's win over the Braves.

Duda had two singles on the afternoon, driving in a run and also scoring in the win. Duda's first stolen base of the year was also the third of his career and first since 2012. With Ike Davis now out of the picture, Duda figures to get the majority of playing time for the Mets going forward.
Apr 20 - 6:07 PM

David Hale allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits over six innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Mets.

Hale allowed one-out singles to David Wright and Daniel Murphy in the sixth inning but appeared to induce a double play ball to end the inning. Instead, Dan Uggla's error allowed an unearned run to score, tying the game and robbing Hale of his first win of the year. Despite the disappointing result, Hale owns a 2.93 ERA through three starts. He'll face the surprisingly tough Marlins lineup on Friday.
