NBA Draft Team Grades
There weren't any earth-shattering moves on draft night, but the Hawks passing on Luka Doncic for Trae Young was a bit eye opening.

White Sox designated OF Trayce Thompson for assignment.

Thompson might be moving on to yet another organization. He was in Dodgers camp this spring, then got claimed off waivers by the Yankees before moving on to Oakland then Chicago. The 27-year-old outfielder is a career .206/.276/.389 career hitter in the major leagues.

White Sox optioned INF Jose Rondon to Triple-A Charlotte.

Rondon has posted a .245 batting average and a .288 on-base percentage between a couple different stints at the major league level this season. The 24-year-old will return to an everyday role at Triple-A.

White Sox activated INF/OF Leury Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia missed a little over three weeks with a left knee sprain. The 27-year-old utilityman has two home runs and nine stolen bases in 39 games this season, but he doesn't get consistent enough playing time to warrant ownership in standard mixed fantasy leagues. Maybe that will change after the White Sox sell off some parts.

White Sox activated OF Avisail Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia will return to the White Sox active roster for Friday's doubleheader against the A's after missing nearly two months with a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring. The 27-year-old outfielder was batting just .233/.250/.315 in 76 plate appearances before the injury, but he's capable of much better results moving forward. Garcia went 9-for-25 (.360) with three home runs, three doubles, and nine RBI on his seven-game minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

Mets released RHP Vance Worley.

Worley allowed 25 earned runs over 16 2/3 innings (four starts) with the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas before landing on the Pacific Coast League disabled list with an elbow injury. He'll try to get healthy and latch on with a new organization. The 30-year-old right-hander posted an ugly 6.91 ERA and 1.80 WHIP across 71 2/3 innings with the Marlins in 2017.

An MRI taken Thursday on Michael Wacha's left oblique showed a "moderate" strain.

That's relatively good news, but Wacha could still miss over a month of action. The 26-year-old right-hander suffered the injury in the fourth inning of his start Wednesday against the Phillies and was placed on the disabled list Thursday. He was sporting a strong 8-2 record, 3.20 ERA, and 71 strikeouts through 64 1/3 innings (15 starts) this season with the Cardinals, who will either turn to John Gant, Daniel Poncedeleon, or Dakota Hudson to fill the vacant rotation spot.

Tyler Skaggs (hamstring) is aiming to start Monday against the Royals or Tuesday against the Red Sox.

That makeup-game matchup in Kansas City would obviously be more favorable for fantasy purposes. Skaggs was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday night against the Blue Jays after experiencing some tightness in his right hamstring, but it looks like he will avoid the disabled list. The 26-year-old left-hander holds an impressive 2.81 ERA and 86/24 K/BB ratio in 80 innings (14 starts) this season with the Angels.
Jun 22 - 8:08 AM

Justin Anderson notched his third save of the season in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays, tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

Anderson was working with an 8-5 lead when he entered for work to start the top of the ninth inning. He proceeded to surrender a leadoff single to Curtis Granderson, but any thought of a Blue Jays rally was dashed when Luke Maile immediately banged into a double play to erase the potential threat. Anderson then struck out Lourdes Gurriel to end the game. The right-hander's pitched to a 3.08 ERA with 36 strikeouts in just 26 1/3 innings this season, though he's also walked a whopping 19 batters in that space. Regular saves won't be coming his way, as he only had the opportunity for ninth-inning action on Thursday due to the fact that Blake Parker needed a breather.
