Elvis Andrus went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored as the Rangers came back to beat the Rays 4-3 on Saturday.

Andrus hit a solo homer in the fourth inning to get the Rangers on the board, and he was in the middle of the three-run sixth inning that saw the Rangers take the lead. It's the second straight game in which the shortstop has homered among three hits, after collecting just two hits in his first 29 at-bats of the second half. Andrus is batting .291/.333/.466 with an already career-best 13 homers, 53 RBI, 58 runs scored and 20 steals to date.

Hector Neris gave up a run in the ninth inning to take a loss against the Brewers on Saturday.

He was called upon to protect a tie game and failed in his duty. He gave up a lead-off double to Eric Thames, then got the lead runner at third on a bunt back to the mound. That was followed by back-to-back singles by Travis Shaw and Domingo Santana to bring in the go-ahead run. Neris now has two wins, four losses, nine saves and three blown saves as the Phillies' primary closer. He has a 3.35 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 43 innings.

Odubel Herrera went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and scored three runs in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

He went deep against starter Brent Suter in the fifth inning. He added two doubles and a single in the ballgame. Herrera struggled badly in the first months of the season but has turned things around in recent weeks. He is batting .270/.312/.437 with nine homers, 35 RBI and five stolen bases. He is unlikely to come anywhere close to the 25 bags he swiped a year ago.

Jeremy Hellickson coughed up six runs in five innings but escaped with a no-decision against the Brewers on Saturday.

He gave up seven hits and two walks while striking out six batters in the contest. Outfielder Ryan Braun inflicted most of the damage, doubling in two runs in the third and swatting a two-run bomb in the fifth. Hellickson trailed 6-0 by the time he was done pitching, but his teammates came back to tie the game up before falling behind again in the ninth. He has a 4.73 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP after 20 starts.

Rays acquired RHP Sergio Romo from the Dodgers for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

It's a logical landing spot for Romo, who drew interest from the Rays before signing with the Dodgers this offseason. Romo has fared poorly this year (6.12 ERA over 25 innings) but may benefit from a change of scenery in Tampa. Even with Romo in tow, the Rays are still likely to pursue bullpen help at the trade deadline with Justin Wilson and A.J. Ramos among their preferred targets.

Colin Moran was carted off the field Saturday against the Orioles after fouling a ball off his left eye.

It was a scary moment for Moran, who went down immediately and is headed to a local hospital for further evaluation. His eye was noticeably bruised and bloodied after Darren O'Day's pitch struck the handle of his bat and headed straight for his face. Moran, who slugged his first big league homer on Friday, went 1-for-2 with a single before exiting in the sixth inning. If it's any consolation, Marwin Gonzalez finished Moran's at-bat by launching a three-run homer onto Eutaw Street.

Evan Longoria went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a loss to the Rangers on Saturday.

Longoria plated two with an RBI single in the third inning. The multi-hit game was the latest in what's been a scorching start to the second half for the 31-year-old, who's 12-for-32 with six RBI and five runs in eight games since the break. Longoria is now hitting .269/.321/.447 with 14 homers and 59 RBI on the year.
Jul 22 - 10:46 PM

Alex Claudio worked a four-out save against the Rays Saturday, his fourth save of the year.

With runners on first and second and two outs in the eighth inning, Claudio was called on to protect a one-run lead. He did so, and then held onto it with a scoreless ninth. Claudio now has three saves since the All-Star break and hasn't been scored upon in five second-half appearances. He owns a 2.42 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 52 innings overall and has a decently solid grip on the Rangers' closing gig for now, despite not having the weapons of a traditional closer.
