Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles and a run scored Friday against the Rays.

De Aza has made the most of his time in Boston, hitting .304 with 14 extra-base hits (including three home runs), 21 RBI, three steals, and 16 runs scored over 43 games. He's a strong possibility to be dealt at some point in August.

Steven Souza went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

Souza reached on an infield single in the second inning to drive home his first run since returning from the disabled list. The 26-year-old has hit safely in four straight games, but he's hitting just .212 with a .299 on-base percentage and continues to have real issues with the strikeout. Fortunately for fantasy owners, he has shown enough pop and speed to be remain relevant.

Rays optioned OF Mikie Mahtook to Triple-A Durham.

The 25-year-old gets sent out after one of his best games of the season, as the outfielder went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored on Friday. He'll continue to function as organizational outfield depth for the Rays.
Jul 31 - 10:56 PM

Manny Machado blasted his 22nd home run of the season on Friday, powering the Orioles to a come-from-behind 8-7 victory over the Tigers.

The Orioles fell behind 6-0 after the first four innings, but never gave up. Adam Jones clobbered a three-run homer in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to two runs, then Machado's two-run shot in the sixth put the O's on top to stay. Machado finished the night 2-for-3 plus a walk with a pair of runs scored and two RBI. He is now slashing a mighty impressive .293/.364/.518 with 22 homers and 54 RBI on the year.
Jul 31 - 10:52 PM

Zach Britton slammed the door on the Tigers in the ninth inning on Friday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run advantage.

Britton did allow a hit, but nothing more was to come of it. He has been outstanding this season, compiling a 1.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 48/9 K/BB ratio over his 42 innings while converting 27 of his 28 save chances.
Jul 31 - 10:47 PM

Wei-Yin Chen was hit hard in a no-decision against the Tigers on Friday, surrendering six runs on 10 hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work.

Despite getting knocked around the field, Chen did manage to punch out six without issuing a walk in the brief outing. It was easily the worst start of the year for the 30-year-old southpaw, who had surrendered more than three runs just once in his first 19 starts. Even after this debacle, he'll carry an impressive 3.24 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 102/26 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's start against the Athletics in Oakland.
Jul 31 - 10:42 PM

J.D. Martinez smashed his 28th home run of the season on Friday, but it wasn't enough for the Tigers to overcome the Orioles.

His two-run blast in the fourth inning gave the Tigers an early 4-0 lead, but like so many times this season the bullpen was unable to protect an early advantage. He also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-4. He is now hitting .287/.347/.556 with 28 home runs and 68 RBI.
Jul 31 - 10:41 PM

Buck Farmer struggled in a no-decision against the Orioles on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits in his 4 1/3 innings of work.

Farmer walked one and struck out one on the night. The big blow against him came before he was chased in the fifth inning when Adam Jones belted a three-run homer. The Tigers continue to search for answers at the back end of their rotation, but it doesn't look like the 24-year-old right-hander is ready to carry that load just yet.
