Steven Souza (wrist) is back in the Rays' lineup Friday.
Souza hasn't played since spraining his left wrist in a home plate collision on Sunday. He's really struggled of late with just four hits in his last 26 at-bats.
Dodgers prospect SS Corey Seager had a career day at the plate on Thursday, going 6-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and six RBI for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
It took Seager a few weeks to fully adjust to the Triple-A level but he's now officially on fire, with an insane .722 (13-for-18)/.750/1.444 batting line, seven extra-base hits (three home runs) and 10 RBI in his last four games. The 21-year-old’s hot streak has pushed his Triple-A batting line to .324/.367/.490 through 25 contests, and he’s batting .346/.385/.571 with eight home runs and 12 doubles over 45 games between Double-A Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Dodgers don’t have any reason to rush Seager, especially after the official signing of Hector Olivera, but he’s clearly going to make it difficult for the organization to keep him in the minors for the entire season.
Astros recalled RHP Michael Feliz from Double-A Corpus Christi.
Feliz, who will turn just 22 next month, holds a 4.17 ERA and 40/12 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 frames between High- and Double-A this season. The hard-thrower has started and relieved in the minors but will be used out of the bullpen for the Astros.
Astros placed RHP Scott Feldman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 27, with a right knee meniscus tear.
It's not clear when he suffered the injury, but Feldman has already undergone surgery and will be sidelined for six weeks. Michael Feliz has taken Feldman's spot on the roster, but it's expected to be Brett Oberholtzer who enters the rotation in the righty's place.
Asdrubal Cabrera (groin) is back in the Rays' lineup Friday.
It's his first start since he suffered a mild groin injury on Sunday. Cabrera sports an ugly .213/.267/.338 batting line over 45 games this season.
Khris Davis is not in the Brewers' lineup Friday.
It's just off. Gerardo Parra is handling left field while Davis sits.
Phillies designated OF Grady Sizemore for assignment.
The Phils re-signed Sizemore to a $2 million contract over the winter after he was decent for them down the stretch last season, but he's hit just .245/.288/.296 with no homers in 39 games this season. He's at least managed to stay healthy for a while now, but the 32-year-old just doesn't look to have anything left in the tank.
Brewers designated RHP Brandon Kintzler for assignment.
It's the second time in the last month that he's been designated for assignment. Kintzler has allowed six runs -- five earned -- over seven relief innings in the majors this season.
