Bryce Harper was held hitless with two strikeouts in four at-bats as the Nationals suffered a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

After finishing the month of April strong, Harper has slumped in five May games, recording just one hit (a single) in 21 plate appearances. Though he has been drawing plenty of walks all season, his triple-slash line is otherwise disappointing at .245/.405/.457.
May 5 - 10:57 PM

Mat Latos yielded only one run in 6 1/3 innings to earn his first win of the season against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Latos, recently bothered by a minor hamstring injury, gave up the run on a Dan Uggla ground out in the second inning. Though he allowed only two hits on the evening and struck out six, he walked five batters. Though he has been mostly average following his horrendous 2015 debut on April 7, he has not shown his usual dominance in strikeouts or walks that led to his previous success. Along with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP, he has a 23/14 K/BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings. Latos will try to improve when he faces the Giants in San Francisco in his next scheduled start.

Eric Hosmer went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the Royals' 5-3 win over the Indians on Tuesday.

Hosmer blasted a three-run homer in the first inning, his fourth homer of the year, before adding an RBI triple in the eighth. Hosmer's 19 RBI ranks him among the league leaders in the category, and he's hitting .320/.400/.540 overall.
May 5 - 10:54 PM

Michael Brantley went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Royals.

Brantley's two-run homer off Royals starter Jason Vargas came in the first inning. He also walked in the game. Brantley is red hot to start the year, batting .351/.415/.541 with two homers and 14 RBI in 19 games. He's added three stolen bases and 11 runs scored to boot, proving that last season's breakout was only the beginning.
May 5 - 10:51 PM

Stephen Strasburg labored, making it through only three innings in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Strasburg needed 64 pitches to get through the first three frames before exiting with an undisclosed injury. He gave up four hits and two walks, and hurt his own cause with a throwing error in the second inning. Strasburg is now 2-3 with a 4.73 ERA, a 1.61 WHIP, and a 32/10 K/BB ratio in 32 1/3 innings. If he's healthy enough to make his next start, it'll be against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
May 5 - 10:51 PM

Alex Gordon went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

Gordon had a couple singles and a walk, scoring twice on extra-base hits from Eric Hosmer. After a frigid start at the dish, Gordon is now hitting .284/.396/.457 with 12 runs scored and 14 RBI.
May 5 - 10:47 PM

Andrew Miller stifled the Blue Jays' attempt at a comeback, recording the final out of Tuesday's 6-3 win to earn his 11th save.

David Carpenter took the mound at the start of the ninth with a 6-0 lead, but the Jays were all over him, scoring three times on a home run, a walk, a ground-rule double, and a single. Miller came in with a runner on first base and two outs to put out the fire. He walked pinch-hitter Jose Bautista to bring the winning run to the plate, but got Devon Travis to fly out to end the game at long last. Miller is 11-for-11 in save chances with a 23/7 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings on the season.
May 5 - 10:45 PM

Wade Davis pitched a scoreless ninth inning against the Indians to earn his sixth save of the season Tuesday.

Davis gave up a hit while striking out one. The save was likely Davis' last for a while, as Royals closer Greg Holland is scheduled to be activated Wednesday. With Holland's return, Davis will go back to being the most dominant setup man in baseball.
