Zack Cozart started Monday and went 1-for-4 with two RBI against the Indians.

Cozart didn't play Sunday because of lingering soreness in his left wrist.

Javier Baez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the Cubs' loss to the Giants on Monday.

Ben Zobrist was the only other Cubs batter to register multiple hits in this one. Baez struck his two-run shot off Giants starter Ty Blach in the bottom of the eighth, but the Cubs entered that inning trailing 6-0 and would ultimately fall 6-4. Baez is batting .264/.301/.496 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 38 games this season for the defending World Series champions.
May 22 - 11:24 PM

Jason Kipnis hit his fourth homer to give the Indians their only run in Monday's loss to the Reds.

Kipnis has hit in eight straight since the Indians inserted him into the leadoff spot, going 13-for-35 with four homers during the stretch. Oddly, he has 10 RBI and just five runs scored to date as a leadoff man.

Ty Blach limited the Cubs to three earned runs over seven-plus innings Monday for his second win.

The lefty was working on a shutout until the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jason Heyward singled, Javier Baez struck a two-run homer, and Ian Happ tripled to drive Blach from the game. He yielded eight hits in all but struck out three and didn't issue a single walk. Brach now stands 2-2 with a 4.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 14/10 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings this season. He lines up to face the Braves at home in his next outing.
May 22 - 11:20 PM

Miguel Sano went 4-for-6 with a homer and three RBI as the Twins topped the Orioles 14-7 on Monday.

Sano had gone eight straight games without a homer, but even during that stretch, he hit .300 with a .382 OBP. He's been an awesome force since day one this year, and we see no reason to expect that to change.
May 22 - 11:19 PM

Kyle Gibson surrendered six runs over five innings in his return to the majors, yet he still earned a win over the Orioles on Monday.

Gibson was 0-4 with an 8.20 ERA in six starts before the Twins sent him down. He's not fixed, but we're not sure there was much to fix in the first place; he just doesn't look like a very good pitcher at this point.
May 22 - 11:17 PM

John Lackey was pounded for five earned runs over five innings Monday in the Cubs' loss to the Giants.

Lackey served up a solo home run to Joe Panik in the top of the first inning and his night didn't get much better from there. The veteran starter yielded seven hits in all and walked two batters while striking out six. He'll bring a disappointing 4-4 record and 4.82 ERA into his next scheduled start on the road against the Dodgers.
May 22 - 11:16 PM

Ubaldo Jimenez was pounded for six runs in four-plus innings by the Twins on Monday.

The Orioles are going to have to do better than this; Jimenez is sporting a 7.11 ERA and a 32/25 K/BB ratio over 42 2/3 innings. This is the last year of his four-year contract, so the Orioles need not be so patient here.
