Cardinals designated INF Ruben Tejada for assignment.

Greg Garcia flashed enough in his brief callup that that Cardinals felt it would be more prudent to keep him on the roster as a reserve infielder instead of Tejada who was hitting just .176/.225/.235 in his 34 at-bats. He should be able to latch on elsewhere with little difficulty.

Cardinals activated 3B Matt Carpenter from the paternity leave list.

Carpenter left the club on Wednesday when his wife went into labor with the couple's first child. He'll return to the Cardinals starting lineup on Saturday.

Brett Gardner is not in the Yankees starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Rays.

Given that the club is squaring off against tough southpaw Matt Moore, manager Joe Girardi figured it would be a good day to give Gardner a breather and keep him fresh. Aaron Hicks is starting in his place and batting second for the Bombers on Saturday.

Giancarlo Stanton (side) is once again absent from the Marlins starting lineup on Saturday.

The slugger hasn't played since Tuesday due to soreness in his right side. He was able to take swings in the batting cage on Friday, but still appears to be at least a day or two away from a return to the Marlins lineup.
May 28 - 1:00 PM

Christian Yelich (back) remains out of the Marlins starting lineup on Saturday.

Yelich has been sidelined for the past week with back spasms, but did appear as a pinch hitter on Friday night. He's inching closer to a return.

Braves placed SS Erick Aybar on the 15-day disabled list with a right foot contusion.

Aybar suffered the injury when he was drilled by an Adam Conley offering during Friday's game. Rather than rush him back into action, the club will give Aybar ample time to heal. Daniel Castro should handle the bulk of the action at shortstop while he's sidelined.

Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

The 25-year-old speedster is hitting a disappointing .226/.267/.331 with a 23/6 K/BB ratio in 124 at-bats on the season and is in danger of losing more playing time if he doesn't start hitting. Tyler Holt will start in his place in center field and bat seventh for the Reds on Saturday.
May 28 - 12:07 PM

Blue Jays activated LHP Aaron Loup from the 15-day disabled list.

Loup has looked strong on his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo and is ready to return to a setup role in the Blue Jays bullpen. He has missed the entire season to date due to a flexor strain in his pitching elbow.
