Bills coach Doug Marrone raved about the play of rookie Seantrel Henderson and confirmed he expects Henderson be the Week 1 starter at right tackle.

"We have an opportunity now that if (Henderson) keeps coming along to maybe have the best tandem in the league," Marrone said. "He’s been everything that people obviously didn’t say about him when he was coming out which is why we were able to get him in the seventh round." Cordy Glenn (illness) returned to full team drills last week and will play in Saturday's preseason game, so the Bills are moving Henderson to right tackle. Erik Pears is starting at right guard. Second-round pick Cyrus Kouandjio was drafted to be Buffalo's right tackle of the future, but still needs time to develop.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin opened his Saturday press conference by praising third-year WR Rueben Randle.

Randle ran a sharp route on his 15-yard touchdown catch Friday night against the Jets, and displayed impressive body control on a 26-yard strike along the sideline. He's the Giants' best hope for big plays this season. Randle remains a value pick at his mid-ninth-round ADP. He's the No. 2 option in the passing game, and at 6'3/210 should be the clear No. 1 on red-zone throws.

Second-year UDFA WR Frankie Hammond Jr. will start in Kansas City's third preseason game.

Hammand is having a strong start to the preseason, with four catches for 67 yards on six targets. He's been filling in for Dwayne Bowe (quad) at Z receiver, and has "been a star during the offseason and training camp." Hammand is a virtual lock to make the Chiefs' final roster. With Dwayne Bowe suspended for the first game, Hammond could be the Week 1 starter opposite Donnie Avery.

Lions waived WR Conner Vernon, RB Steven Miller, OG Alex Bullard, DE Kris Redding, OG A.J. Dalton, and DT Greg Hickman.

There are no surprises with these cuts. Vernon and Miller were trying to make the Lions on special teams. Bullard was competing for the backup left guard job.

Lions placed WR T.J. Jones (shoulder) on reserve/PUP.

He'll miss at least the first six weeks of the season. Jones didn't practice all offseason after shoulder surgery. The move allows the Lions to keep him without having to use a roster spot. Jones will be eligible to return in Week 7.

Sammy Watkins (ribs) is inactive for Saturday's preseason game.

Watkins returned to practice on a limited basis this week, but the Bills don't want to risk him to further injury. It's not ideal for him to be missing time in Buffalo's regular season dress rehearsal. TE Tony Moeaki is also inactive and has appeared in just one preseason game.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said undrafted WR Corey Washington has played in "superb fashion" and that "certainly gets your attention."

Washington has put together a strong preseason, and has a touchdown in four straight games. He should be a lock for a roster spot. Washington could push for snaps in red-zone and four-wide packages.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that tests have confirmed NT B.J. Raji (torn biceps) is out for the season.

The Packers were hoping to place Raji on short-term I.R. for a possible a late-season impact. Although he hasn't been productive in years, his loss is a blow to Green Bay's defensive line. Raji will end up playing zero regular season snaps after re-signing to a one-year, $4 million deal in the offseason. Josh Boyd and Letroy Guion are in-house candidates to replace Raji. Free agents Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly are likely available for the veteran minimum.
