Joey Votto went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Cubs.

Votto put the exclamation point on Saturday's blowout of the division foe, rocking a three-run home run off Chris Giminez with two outs in the eighth inning to put the Reds up by an 11-2 margin. The home run was just his eighth of the season. The All Star first baseman has been dragging a bit with the power bat in general this year, as he's currently slashing. 299/.427/.459 in 75 games. He has posted a slugging percentage north of .540 each of the last three seasons.

Kelvin Herrera allowed two runs in the eighth inning against the Phillies on Saturday.

The Phillies were already ahead by a run when Herrera came out for the eighth. He served up a solo home run to Carlos Santana and later in the frame surrendered a run-scoring single to Maikel Franco. Herrera was lights-out as the Royals closer and since being traded to the Nationals had pitched two scoreless innings as the set-up man prior to today's poor outing in a non-save situation.

Tucker Barnhart went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Cubs.

Barnhart rocked a two-run home run off Luke Farrell in the first inning, but would be unable to find another hit through to the end of the contest. The long ball was his fifth of the campaign. In addition, the backstop owns a ho-hum .265/.346/.390 batting line across 223 at-bats. He is ownable in two-catcher formats, but otherwise carries no real fantasy intrigue.
Jun 23 - 7:52 PM

Erick Fedde let in three runs in six-plus innings and was charged with a loss to the Phillies on Saturday.

He was looking good through six frames, having yielded only two runs. But he was sent back out for the seventh and allowed a lead-off double to Maikel Franco before being relieved. That runner came around to score against the bullpen and it took the shine off his feel-good outing. The rookie is filling in for the injured Stephen Strasburg and probably hasn't pitched well enough to stay in the majors after the ace returns to action. Fedde is 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA after four starts.

Ben Zobrist went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Reds.

Zobrist connected for a solo home run in the sixth inning, but alas for the Cubs, this merely drew the team to within 8-2. The veteran has collected multiple knocks in each of his last two games and is hitting .290/.384/.430 with five home runs and 26 RBI in 60 games for the season as a whole. He's played respectably enough, though his fantasy value went off to pasture some time ago.

Blue Jays placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.

There was no word of anything wrong after Garcia's last start Tuesday or at any time since, so it's hard to say whether Garcia is actually hurt or if the Jays just want him gone for a little while. They were considering sending him to the pen with his ERA standing at 6.16 in 13 starts. Ryan Borucki is one candidate to replace him in the rotation.
Jun 23 - 7:43 PM

Blue Jays recalled LHP Tim Mayza from Triple-A Buffalo.

It's Mayza's fifth start in the majors this year. He's allowed three runs in 10 innings out of the pen.
Jun 23 - 7:41 PM

Brandon Belt went 2-for-4 and scored a run as his team beat the Padres on Saturday.

Both hits were singles as he boosted his batting average to .305 on the season. He also has 12 home runs, 35 RBI and 36 runs and is on pace to break his career highs in most stat categories. He recently spent two weeks on the disabled list after an appendectomy and it hasn't affected his performance since returning.
