Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple versus the Athletics on Friday.

The triple was a gift from left fielder Chad Pinder, but he'll certainly take it. Incredibly, it gave his first multi-RBI game since April 14; he had five RBI in his previous 35 games.

Ross Stripling allowed just an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings and struck out 10 to beat the Padres on Friday.

Stripling was pushed to the pen for over a year because of the Dodgers' abundance of rotation depth, but he's excelled since the team was forced to give him another chance as a starter and he just might keep his spot for the long haul. If it happens, he should maintain some mixed-league value.

Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth, striking out two, for a save Friday against the Padres.

After all of those velocity concerns during the first couple of weeks, Jansen is throwing about as hard as ever now and he's pitched 11 scoreless innings in his last 10 appearances. He's 11-for-13 in save chances, with both blown saves coming in the Dodgers' first 16 games of the year.
May 26 - 12:46 AM

Matt Kemp went 3-for-4 and hit a three-run homer off the Padres' Clayton Richard in Friday's win.

Kemp's average is up to .338. He's not really hitting for any more power than usual or striking out much less than usual, but his BABIP is through the rook, fueling a batting average that's 50 points higher than any of his marks from the previous five years. One would think that's not going to hold up all year. Still, he's been decent enough on defense that he could falter some and still deserve to remain in the lineup.
May 26 - 12:44 AM

Franchy Cordero went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts Friday in the loss to the Dodgers.

Cordero has had one multihit game while batting .225 with one homer and six RBI in 71 at-bats this month. The power will come back, but OBP is still a question mark and his defense is a big issue that cuts into his value to the Padres. It's still possible that he could wind up back in Triple-A at some point.
May 26 - 12:41 AM

James Paxton held the Twins to one run over seven innings and struck out 11 to win Friday.

Paxton gave up six runs in his first start of the season, but he's pitched like a Cy Young threat ever since. He'd be a legitimate candidate to take home that hardware if he could make 32 starts this year. Unfortunately, his career high to date is 24 starts and 136 innings.
May 26 - 12:36 AM

Edwin Diaz notched his 18th save with a perfect ninth Friday against the Twins.

The Mariners acquired a closer today, but they're certainly to use Alex Colome in the eighth. Diaz has been terrific in amassing a 1.71 ERA. Really, it's hard to see how the league has scored even five runs against him with his stuff. He's allowed nine hits, walked nine and struck out 46 in 26 1/3 innings.
May 26 - 12:35 AM

Fernando Romero surrendered two runs over seven innings in a tough loss to the Mariners on Friday.

It's Romero's first defeat in five starts, as he was outpitched by James Paxton. He should have a more favorable matchup next time out against the Royals.
