Stevan Ridley rushed for 28 yards on 8 carries in the Patriots' third preseason game.
Ridley only saw six snaps in the first half, but did play extensively in the first-team offenses' lone drive following the break. Most importantly Ridley did not put the ball on the ground Friday night. With James White struggling, Ridley should hold onto the early-down and short-yardage work as long as he can hold onto the ball. Ridley has 19 carries for 75 yards this preseason.
Marcus Harris was forced from Friday's preseason game with a shoulder injury.
Harris caught one pass for three yards before going down. He was later spotted on the sideline with his arm in a sling. It's not a good sign for the fourth-year UDFA's roster chances. Harris nine catches for 93 yards through four preseason games.
Davante Adams had no catches on three targets in Friday's preseason game against the Raiders.
Corey Washington caught 2-of-4 targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game.
Another nice stat line, but all of Washington's work came with Ryan Nassib and the second-team offense. Nevertheless, he's now up to nine catches for 152 yards and four touchdowns through four preseason games. He's just about sewn up a spot on the 53-man roster.
DuJuan Harris rushed 12 times for 56 yards and caught two passes for 42 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Raiders.
Coming off a ruptured patellar tendon, Harris was surprisingly quick and explosive. It's something coaches must have seen in practices, as he mixed with No. 2 back James Starks after Eddie Lacy left. Through three preseason games, Harris has 26 carries for 106 yards and five catches for 50 yards. If Lacy were to go down in the regular season, Harris appears to have earned a role.
Shane Vereen started the Patriots' third preseason game Friday night, rushing six times for 18 yards and hauling in five passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
Vereen was on the field for seven of the Patriots' first eight offensive snaps, and played 26 snaps to Stevan Ridley's six in the first half. After only seeing three touches through the first two preseason games, Vereen's heavy usage against the Panthers was very encouraging. He is a solid RB2 in PPR formats, and should be a low-end RB2 or flex in standard formats as well.
Matt Forte rushed three times for 17 yards in the Bears' third preseason game Friday night.
Coach Marc Trestman smartly used Forte briefly, in an effort to keep him healthy for the regular season. Forte entered this game with seven carries for -7 yards on the preseason, so his August stats stand at 10-10 on the ground. He has three catches for 22 yards. The lack of preseason rushing success is not a regular season concern. Forte is a consensus top-three fantasy pick.
Andre Williams rushed 11 times for 49 yards and a touchdown in Friday's regular-season dress rehearsal.
It's a nice stat line, but less impressive when you realize Williams got out-touched 14-1 by Rashad Jennings in the first half. Neither player got a goal-line look while Eli Manning was still in the game. Williams' score came with 6:12 remaining. He's now up to 33 carries for 151 yards (4.57 YPC) and two touchdowns through four preseason games. Williams should get some looks near the goal line, but opens the season as nothing more than an RB4 in re-draft leagues.
