Indians optioned RHP Josh Tomlin to Triple-A Columbus.

Tomlin dealt with a sore shoulder early on in camp and allowed four runs over eight innings when healthy. He'll be part of Columbus' rotation.

Giants optioned OF Juan Perez to Triple-A Sacramento.

Justin Maxwell has beaten out Perez for the final outfielder spot. Perez hit only .244/.306/.356 this spring.
Mar 29 - 1:07 PM

Giants optioned RHP Hunter Strickland to Triple-A Sacramento.

Strickland's fastball can hit 100 mph, but the Giants' bullpen is deep and he has some command issues to iron out. He'll wind up spending ample time in the majors in 2015.
Mar 29 - 1:06 PM

Giants optioned OF Gary Brown to Triple-A Sacramento.

The speedster stole three bases but hit only .158/.256/.263 this spring. Brown was once a nice prospect but is headed back to Triple-A for a third straight season.
Mar 29 - 1:05 PM

Giants optioned 1B Adam Duvall to Triple-A Sacramento.

Duvall batted just .170/.220/.277 this spring. He doesn't have anything left to prove in the minors, but the Giants just don't have a spot for him.
Mar 29 - 1:03 PM

Giants optioned C Andrew Susac to Triple-A Fresno.

Susac entered camp as the favorite to back up Buster Posey, but the Giants have elected to carry Hector Sanchez instead. The 25-year-old is probably better off playing regularly in the minors, anyway.
Mar 29 - 1:02 PM

Joe Kelly (biceps) will appear in a minor league game on Wednesday.

The Red Sox are throwing Kelly against minor leaguers just in case they have to backdate a disabled list stint for him. The right-hander hasn't appeared in a game in nearly two weeks due to biceps soreness. "We'll continue to make sure that he's answering the physical questions,'' said John Farrell. "With the number of pitches thrown and a progression that's outlined for him...We're keeping their options open.''

Zach McAllister has been named the Indians' No. 4 starter.

McAllister essentially had a spot in the rotation wrapped up Friday when Danny Salazar was optioned and then went out Saturday and struck out nine over five frames. We would've liked to have seen Salazar get a shot, but McAllister is a perfectly capable back-end starter with a career 3.93 FIP and 299/122 K/BB ratio over 363 1/3 innings.
