Marco Estrada tossed seven innings of one-run ball Friday in a 2-1 win over the Pirates.

It was his best start of the season. Estrada held the Pirates to just four hits while walking none and striking out a season-high eight batters. The only run scored on a double by Neil Walker in his final inning of work. Estrada has been inconsistent this season, but he's well worth a look if he's sitting on the waiver wire. He has a promising matchup against the Twins next week.

Francisco Rodriguez replaced an injured Jim Henderson and notched a one-out save in Friday's win over the Pirates.

It was his 295th career save. Rodriguez only threw two pitches after replacing Henderson, as Neil Walker grounded out to end the ball game. The severity of Henderson's injury isn't yet known, but K-Rod could certainly factor in if he requires an extended absence. John Axford could also get another chance at the role.

A.J. Burnett yielded two runs in seven innings Friday in a tough luck loss to the Brewers.

He struck out six and walked two. Burnett's only mistake was a two-run double by Alex Gonzalez in the second inning, but it was enough to put him on the losing side. While he took the loss, he has now completed seven innings in five straight starts and has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of them. He'll carry a 2.57 ERA into a start against the Tigers next week in Pittsburgh.

Alex Gonzalez delivered a two-run double in Friday's win over the Pirates.

The Brewers couldn't get anything else going against A.J. Burnett and company, but it was enough for the victory. With the double, Gonzalez collected his first RBI since way back on May 2. The 36-year-old infielder is hitting just .188/.217/.248 through 37 games this season and can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Mike Carp smashed a three-run homer on Friday, helping to power the Red Sox to an 8-1 victory over the Indians.

Carp finished the night 1-for-2 before being lifted for a pinch-hitter. His three-run blast off Justin Masterson opened the scoring in the second inning, and was more than enough offense for John Lackey in this one. He's thrived in a part-time role, hitting .286/.340/.653 with three homers and 11 RBI in his first 49 at-bats.

John Lackey twirled a gem in Friday’s victory over the Indians, allowing just one unearned run on two hits over seven innings.

Lackey matched his season high with eight strikeouts while walking three. He’s been extremely impressive through his first seven starts on the season, posting a 2.72 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 40/11 K/BB ratio over 39 2/3 innings. He’ll look to carry the momentum over from this strong outing when he does battle against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Michael Brantley went 2-for-3 with a double in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

As a team, the Indians only mustered four total hits, and Brantley had half of them. His season is off to a fantastic start, hitting .312/.366/.399 with two homers, 24 RBI and three stolen bases. With Nick Swisher now playing first base on a nightly basis, Brantley should continue to see everyday at-bats in the Indians' outfield.
May 24 - 11:00 PM

Justin Masterson had a rough night against his former team on Friday, serving up five runs on six hits over six innings of work in a losing effort against the Red Sox.

Masterson struck out five on the night while walking one. Mike Carp’s three-run homer in the second inning was the biggest blow against him. This poor outing comes on the heels of two terrific starts where Masterson had tossed 16 scoreless innings. He’ll carry a 7-3 record, 3.20 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into Wednesday’s matchup against the Reds at home.
