Homer Bailey (elbow) went three solid innings in a Triple-A game on Friday, allowing just one run on three hits.

The 28-year-old right-hander threw 41 pitches on the afternoon, 25 of them for strikes. He continues to progress in his recovery from a tear in the flexor tendon of his right elbow. While he won't be ready for Opening Day, he should be ready to join the Reds rotation in mid-April.

Anthony Rendon (knee) did light jogging on Friday with an emphasis on lateral movement.

Rendon was testing his left knee as he's attempting to rehab from a minor MCL sprain that has shut him down since March 9. The young infielder has no issues when running straight ahead, but continues to have trouble when moving side to side. He still has his sights set on being a part of the Nationals lineup on Opening Day, and barring any setbacks that goal could be realistic.

Yangervis Solarte has embraced his super utility role with the Padres this spring.

He entered camp in a competition with Will Middlebrooks for the team's starting job at third base, but it appears that he'll wind up in a reserve role instead. With the ability to play nearly every position on the field, Solarte should find himself in the lineup on an almost nightly basis.

Mark Canha blasted a three-run walkoff home run off Phil Klein on Friday, propelling the Athletics to a 7-6 victory over the Rangers in Cactus League play.

It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the afternoon, but certainly the critical knock in the ballgame. The 26-year-old Rule 5 pick is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with four homers and eight RBI on the spring. He's expected to win a bench spot on the A's Opening Day roster.

Jesse Hahn excelled in his Cactus League start against the Rangers on Friday, surrendering just one run on three hits across 5 1/3 innings.

Hahn punched out three on the afternoon while issuing only one free pass. He has been terrific in his battle for a spot in the A's rotation this spring, compiling a 3.06 ERA and 11/5 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings. As long as he secures a spot in the rotation, the 25-year-old right-hander has more than enough upside to be mixed league relevant in 2015.

Chris Gimenez went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI as the Rangers fell to the Athletics in Cactus League competition.

Gimenez plated a run with an RBI double off R.J. Alvarez in the seventh inning. In camp as a non-roster invitee, he's hitting just .167 in Cactus League play and looks unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.

Anthony Ranaudo pitched well in Friday's Cactus League start against the Athletics, allowing two runs on five hits over his six innings of work.

The young right-hander struck out three and didn't issue a walk in the ballgame. He's keeping hope alive to secure one of the final spots in the Opening Day rotation, despite holding a 5.02 ERA in Cactus League play.

Jorge Soler launched one of four Cubs home runs off Jeff Samardzija on Friday as they dispatched of the White Sox 6-3 in Cactus League action.

Soler was the first to take Samardzija out of the yard on Friday, blasting a two-run homer to put the Cubs on the board in the first inning. Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro and Chris Coghlan would each get in on the fun before the afternoon was through. Soler has been mighty impressive in Cactus League play, hitting .333 (14-for-42) with three homers and nine RBI.
