Shin-Soo Choo homered, doubled and walked three times to lead the Rangers to a 6-3 win over the Royals on Monday

If only Choo could always face the Royals; he has three homers and he's reached base 15 times in five games against the club this season. While there's been a fair amount of talk about Nick Markakis finally making it to his first All-Star Game this year, Choo is another guy who has had a fine career and might be in line to go for the first time. Choo stands at 32.6 rWAR in a career that began in 2005. Markakis is at 32.2 rWAR since 2006.

Bartolo Colon beat the Royals by allowing three runs in six innings on Monday.

Colon allowed nine hits and struck out just one, but that was good enough. He hasn't struck out more than four batters in any of his last 11 starts now, and he's barely keeping it together with a 4.91 ERA overall.

Amed Rosario went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in an easy win over the Rockies on Monday.

Rosario's doubles give him 12 on the year. Even with the three hits, Rosario is hitting an ugly .246/.274/.371 on the 2018 campaign, and he's on pace for 49 RBI and nine homers on the season. You can't panic about the long-term future of Rosario -- he won't turn 23 until November -- but it's fair to say that he's been a fantasy disappointment in 2018.

Ian Kennedy gave up five runs in six innings Monday against the Rangers to take his seventh loss.

Kennedy has three starts this year in which he's allowed zero runs, yet he's won just one game. Obviously, he's losing when he gives up five runs. Kennedy might no longer be good enough to help a contender, but he deserves better than what he has behind him in Kansas City.

Rays designated INF Rob Refsnyder for assignment.

The 27-year-old is on the move as the Rays needed to create a spot on the roster for Kevin Kiermaier who is set to return on Tuesday. He hit a disappointing .167/.314/.274 with a pair of homers and five RBI in 103 plate appearances with the Rays.

Devin Mesoraco went 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in a win over the Rockies on Monday.

Mesoraco also walked with the bases loaded, and he came across to score a second run later in the ninth. The homer gives him seven on the year, with this one coming off of Jake McGee in the eighth inning. The backstop ups his season line to .221/.307/.426, and he's driven in 16 runs now over 44 games.

Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer off the Royals' Ian Kennedy on Monday.

It was just Beltre's third homer in 149 at-bats this year, but he's batting a robust .322. He's 12-for-24 in his last seven games.

Michael Conforto went 3-for-4 with a walk and two doubles in a win over the Rockies on Monday.

The two doubles give Conforto eight on the season. He also stole a base on Monday, giving him two this year. Reaching four times ups his on-base percentage to .354, and the three hits bumps the average to .225. The latter is still not where you want it to be, but it's nice to see Conforto have some hits fall his way as we get closer to the second-half of the season.
