Khris Davis had two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Davis had an RBI single in the third inning before hitting a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Davis has moved into a starting role with the departures of Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra, but the outfielder is hitting just .230/.318/.407 on the season.
Aug 5 - 1:19 AM

Jimmy Nelson allowed only an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Nelson gave up three hits and a walk while striking out four in the win. It was his third straight start without allowing an earned run, a stretch that spans 20 2/3 innings. Nelson moved to 9-9 with the win, his sixth in his last seven decisions, and the scoreless streak lowered his ERA to 3.57. Nelson will try to keep it going Sunday against the Cardinals.
Aug 5 - 1:13 AM

Andrew Cashner gave up just two runs over six innings but took the loss against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Cashner was actually fortunate to get out with just two runs allowed, as he yielded eight hits and walked four over his six innings of work. Cashner also struck out five in the outing. Even with the decent showing, the loss dropped Cashner to 4-11 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He's got a good shot at getting his fifth win Sunday against the Phillies.
Aug 5 - 1:09 AM

Marcus Semien went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Orioles.

Semien broke the game open in the sixth inning, hitting his three-run shot to left-center off of reliever Chaz Roe to send the Athletics' lead to 5-0. It's his second home run in four games, but he's been mediocre offensively overall, batting .245/.292/.382 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI.
Aug 5 - 1:06 AM

Miguel Gonzalez lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

Gonzalez traded zeroes with opposing starter Chris Bassitt for the first four innings, but relented an RBI single to Billy Burns in the fifth. In the sixth, Brett Lawrie hit an RBI triple, and he'd later score on a home run. He gave up five hits overall with three walks and five strikeouts. Gonzalez now has a 4.32 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and an 86/36 K/BB ratio over 114 2/3 innings. He'll take on the Mariners in Seattle next.
Aug 5 - 1:04 AM

Chris Bassitt got the win versus the Orioles on Tuesday after firing seven scoreless innings.

The right-hander scattered five hits and two walks while striking out seven. Bassitt has been fantastic since joining the rotation at the end of June, posting a 2.43 ERA with a 26/5 K/BB ratio in six starts spanning 37 innings. Oddly enough, it's his first win. He'll toe the rubber at home against the Astros in his next start.
Aug 5 - 1:01 AM

Prince Fielder hit his 16th home run of the season as the Rangers beat the Astros 4-3 on Tuesday.

Fielder hit nine homers in May but had hit just five since June 1 prior to Tuesday. The solo homer was his only hit in four at-bats. In his comeback season, the first baseman is batting .329/.398/.502 with 62 RBI and 53 runs scored on the year. His .900 OPS is eighth-best in the AL.
Aug 5 - 12:59 AM

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.

The dinger was the first for Gomez since being dealt to the Astros as the deadline. He's hitting .348 with four RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base through five games in the American League. Gomez should continue to produce good numbers in the middle of the Astros lineup going forward.
