Orioles sent C Francisco Peña outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Peña cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 27-year-old has appeared in 17 games with the Orioles over the past two seasons and will continue to provide depth behind the plate in the minors.

Anthony Gose was clocked at 99 mph during his first appearance with High-A Lakeland on Monday.

Gose, who is making the switch from the outfield to the mound, was assigned to Lakeland after spending the first two months of the season in extended spring training. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk with one strikeout in his first appearance on Monday. Tigers vice president of player development Dave Littlefield said they are "very optimistic" about his progress thus far. Gose, a left-handed thrower, is still just 26 years old and could have an interesting second act ahead of him.

Phillies released LHP Mario Hollands.

Hollands had a 4.15 ERA and 9/12 K/BB ratio over 13 innings with Double-A Reading this season. The 28-year-old made 50 appearances out of the Phillies' bullpen in 2014, but he hasn't been able to make it back to the majors since his Tommy John surgery.

Indians signed OF David Lough to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Lough was recently released by the Tigers, but it didn't take him long to find a new opportunity. The 31-year-old appeared in 30 games with the Phillies last season and owns a .254/.300/.371 batting line over 342 games in the majors. He'll provide some outfield depth in the minors.

Hunter Dozier (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Wilmington.

Dozier has been out all season after suffering a Grade 2 strain of his oblique during spring training. He's on the 60-day disabled list and will likely be optioned to Triple-A Omaha once he's back to full health.
May 23 - 11:24 AM

Trevor Story (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday.

Rockies manager Bud Black passed along the news during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM. Story, out since May 11 with a left shoulder strain, went 3-for-11 (.273) with a homer over four games during his minor league rehab assignment. The 24-year-old was batting just .180/.289/.396 through 33 games prior to the injury, but the power has still been there and he obviously plays half of his games in a great park for offense.
May 23 - 11:21 AM

Rockies manager Bud Black said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM on Tuesday that Jon Gray (foot) is "three weeks away from pitching for us."

This matches up with a recent prediction from Rockies' beat writer Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. Gray suffered a stress fracture in his left foot last month and has been throwing despite being in a boot. His recovery is taking longer than originally anticipated, but the Rockies have managed to put together the best record in the NL without him. They'll happily welcome him back, of course.
May 23 - 11:04 AM

Tommy Hunter (calf) is slated to begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Charlotte.

Hunter should only need a couple of appearances before rejoining the Rays. The veteran reliever has been sidelined for a month due to a right calf strain. He had a 1.08 ERA over 10 appearances prior to the injury.
