Mike Dunn (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Jupiter.

Dunn, who is coming back from a forearm strain, is expected to throw around 20 pitches. The plan calls for him to get the day off Wednesday before pitching again on Thursday. The southpaw could be back with the Marlins next week if all goes well.

Tigers IF/OF prospect JaCoby Jones slammed his first home run of the 2016 season Monday in a win for Double-A Erie.

In addition to his solo shot off Reading left-hander Tom Windle, Jones also contributed an RBI single as part of a four-run seventh inning. Jones has gotten off to a strong start with four multi-hit games in his first six contests. Through 26 at-bats, his slugging percentage sits at an impressive .577. The 24-year-old served a 50-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy earlier this year.

Tyler Wilson will start Wednesday against the Astros.

Wednesday's starter was previously listed as TBA, but the Orioles have made it official. Kevin Gausman will start the series finale on Thursday.

Tigers OF prospect Connor Harrell drove in a career-high five runs Monday in a win for Double-A Erie.

Harrell homered twice while slugging his first career grand slam. It was the second multi-homer game of Harrell's career with his first coming on July 29, 2014. Monday's explosion ended a 12-game homeless drought for Harrell, who is hitting .275 with a .793 OPS through 27 games. The 25-year-old missed 15 games with a strained oblique earlier this year.

Shane Victorino is not planning on retiring, per Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.

Victorino was released from his minor league contract with the Cubs on Monday after batting .233/.324/.367 through nine games with Triple-A Iowa. The 35-year-old is looking for another opportunity, but interest figures to be limited at this stage of his career.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that James Loney's representatives plan to contact the Mets to gauge interest.

Lucas Duda is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his back, so it could be a natural fit. Sherman hears that the Mets at least have "some curiosity" about the possibility. Loney, 32, is batting .333/.368/.417 with two home runs and 23 RBI over 39 games with the Padres' Triple-A affiliate. He has the ability to opt of his minor league deal if he finds an opportunity in the majors.

Alex Rodriguez (hamstring) will play a minor league rehab game with Double-A Trenton on Tuesday.

Rodriguez wasn't originally expected to require a minor league rehab assignment as he makes his way back from a hamstring strain, but there has been a change of plans. Assuming he feels good, the Yankees could bring him back on Wednesday.
May 24 - 10:54 AM

Carson Smith (elbow) will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.

Smith missed the first month of the season while recovering from a flexor tendon strain and made just three appearances before hitting the DL again earlier this month. Now he'll be sidelined through the early part of next season. It's a brutal blow for the Red Sox, who acquired Smith from the Mariners over the winter in hopes that he would be one of their most valuable late-inning arms. They could be in the market for a reliever as the summer moves along.
