Ian Desmond went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's series finale in Texas.

Desmond certainly enjoyed his stay in Arlington, going 6-for-13 with two homers, three runs scored and three RBI in the three-game interleague set to raise his average above the Mendoza line from .195 to .209. He still has a ways to go in the average department before pleasing his fantasy owners, but his average is at the highest it has been since April 12 when he was hitting .213. The upward ascension is nice, and at least he has been providing some nice power along the way.

Gerardo Parra went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored and four RBI in Sunday's 13-12 setback in Texas.

The left-handed hitting Venezuelan slugger enjoyed a solid May, hitting .329 with five doubles, two homers and 11 RBI. He is on pace to have an even more productive June, going 18-for-49 (.367) with three doubles and 11 RBI in just 14 games. While he hasn't had a homer in 21 outings dating back to May 21 in Los Angeles, that's about the only thing fantasy owners can carp about.

Trevor Story finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI Sunday in Texas, cracking a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning.

Story gave the team a brief 12-9 lead in the top of the ninth, but the bullpen was unable to hold the lead in what looked more like a beer-league softball game with all of the offense. Story entered the season with at least 24 homers in each of his first campaigns in the majors and he is on pace for 34 homers with over 100 RBI this season. Both would be career bests if he can maintain the pace.

DJ LeMahieu finished 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run while coming across to score twice in Sunday's 13-12 slugfest loss in Texas.

It wasn't all great, as LeMahieu did strike out three times. Still, he is a solid 20-for-70 (.286) with five doubles, two homers and 10 RBI in 15 games with 16 runs scored since coming off the 10-day disabled list on June 1, including five multi-hit efforts. He appears to be fully back to 100 percent healthy after recovering from a thumb sprain and small fractured in his left wrist at the end of May.

Nick Vincent (groin) is on track to return to the Mariners' bullpen on Friday.

Vincent was expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, but instead he'll head right to Double-A Arkansas instead where he'll pitch on Monday and Wednesday.

Jon Gray allowed six runs - five earned - and six hits with a walk and nine strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Sunday in Texas.

Gray did a good job logging plenty of strikeouts for his fantasy owners, but he did not factor into the decision in what turned out to be a slugfest. The Rockies offense bailed him out with a five-spot in the top of the seventh, only to surrender the lead in the bottom of the ninth. He'll look for better results next time out on Friday against the Marlins in a favorable matchup.
Jun 17 - 7:55 PM

Francisco Lirano (hamstring) was hit hard in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits over his four innings of work.

The lone bright spot of the afternoon for Liriano was that he racked up seven strikeouts and didn't walk a batter. He surrendered a pair of home runs in the contest, to Gabriel Guerrero and Steve Selsky. Liriano threw 83 pitches in the outing, 56 of them for strikes. He was expected to return to the Tigers' rotation after this start, but given how poorly it went perhaps they'll have him make one more.

Rangers optioned OF Ryan Rua to Triple-A Round Rock.

That will clear the way for Elvis Andrus who will rejoin the Rangers on Monday. The club will also need to make a 40-man roster move on Monday to accomodate Andrus. Rua will continue to provide outfield depth for the Rangers at Triple-A.
