Collin McHugh allowed nine hits and four runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Wednesday.

Things fell apart for McHugh in the fourth inning, when the Orioles plated all four of their runs against the right-hander. That included back-to-back homers from Chris Davis and Steve Pearce. McHugh was otherwise pretty good, striking out five without walking a batter. He'll carry a 5-2 record and 4.24 ERA into Tuesday's rematch with the same O's.

Collin Cowgill (hand) will meet with doctors Wednesday.

Cowgill tried to swing a bat recently without much success. A trip to the disabled list could be in store. More should be known after his meeting with doctors on Wednesday.

Cory Rasmus (abdomen) could begin a rehab assignment next week.

Rasmus had surgery to repair a core muscle in late March. He'll likely need a few weeks on the rehab assignment before returning to the Angels in mid-June.

Conor Gillaspie is expected back in the White Sox' lineup Thursday.

Gillaspie didn't start any of the team's games in Toronto for fear of the turf's effect on his plantar fasciitis. There doesn't appear to be any recurrence, though, so he should be fine moving forward.

Scott Van Slyke is dealing with a mild back injury.

It would explain why Van Slyke hasn't appeared in a game since Monday. The injury doesn't sound serious, so he should be back in game action soon.

Scott Kazmir will have an MRI of his left shoulder taken Thursday.

Kazmir left Wednesday's start against the Tigers after three innings with shoulder tightness, so the club will have it looked at. More should be known about his outlook after the results of the MRI are known.

Yoenis Cespedes finished 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the Tigers' 3-2 defeat of the A's on Wednesday afternoon at Oakland's O.co Coliseum.

Cespedes drew a walk in the top of the second, singled in the top of the fourth, and then clubbed a three-run homer off A's reliever Dan Otero in the top of the fifth. All while receiving friendly applause from the Oakland fans in his old stomping ground. Cespedes is batting .291/.327/.489 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 48 games this season for Detroit.
May 27 - 6:56 PM

Joakim Soria earned his 15th save of the season Wednesday in the Tigers' defeat of the A's.

Soria gave up a leadoff single to Stephen Vogt and a one-out walk to Mark Canha, but he ended the threat by striking out Brett Lawrie and Marcus Semien in order. Soria boasts a 1.27 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 17/4 K/BB ratio in 21 1/3 innings this season and should remain a highly valuable fantasy closer all year on another good Tigers team.
