David Peralta blasted a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to the Marlins.

Peralta tracked a changeup from Jose Fernandez very well and laced it over the right-center fence for his third homer of the year. He's only 5-for-27 (.185 AVG) in his last eight games, so it was nice to see the 28-year-old get the monkey off his back. He's hitting .255/.311/.455 on the season and should continue to be a fruitful source of RBI batting clean-up with regularity.

After being hit on the right elbow by a pitch in Wednesday's win over the Orioles, Brett Gardner's X-rays came back negative.

Gardner was plunked on the elbow in the top of the eighth inning. It actually resulted in an RBI for the run-hungry Yankees, as the bases were loaded at the time. He would stay in the game before being lifted for defensive replacement Dustin Ackley in the ninth. After the win, manager Joe Girardi said that the speedy outfielder was "pretty sore." Consider him day-to-day moving forward unless the Yankees indicate otherwise.

Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-3 with double, a two-run homer, and a walk in Wednesday's victory over the Diamondbacks.

Stanton is killing the baseball these days. He has six homers in his last nine games and, overall, is hitting .258/.374/.596 in 107 plate appearances. The strikeouts will prevent him from competing for a hitting title, but at 6-foot-6 and with 80-grade power, that's not what he's programmed to do. The 26-year-old is meant to crush homers to all parts of the field. He has an outside shot at hitting 50 this year, if he remains healthy.

Rubby De La Rosa couldn’t escape the sixth inning in Wednesday’s loss to the Marlins, serving up four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.

De La Rosa missed middle-middle on a 94 mph fastball to Giancarlo Stanton, something that rarely results in anything other than pain. His two-run blast capped the Marlins’ three-run third inning and ultimately ensured that the right-hander wouldn’t have a chance to pick up his fourth win of the season. De La Rosa continues to have a massive home-run problem -- he has his whole career -- and unless that’s somehow magically solved, the 27-year-old will always have issues with run prevention. He owns a 4.60 ERA in 29 1/3 innings this year.

Jose Fernandez only lasted five innings and gave up three runs on Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, but he still managed to earn his third win.

Fernandez hasn't been able to find his groove this year. He needed 60 to get through his first three innings, and that was without surrendering a single run. Those three came in the fourth and fifth frames. The 23-year-old righty has a 4.28 BB/9 and even with the some of the best stuff in the majors, he's discovering that he needs refine his command and his approach on the mound if he's going to find consistent success against big-league lineups. His ERA increased to 4.28 in 33 2/3 innings. He'll look to post gaudy numbers against a vulnerable Brewers lineup next Monday.

Russell Martin looped a walk-off single over the head of Nomar Mazara in right field to secure a 4-3 victory over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Martin took reliever Tony Barnette to deep right field with the bases loaded to plate the winning run. It's been a difficult season for the 33-year-old catcher, as he's dealt with neck stiffness that has kept him from playing everyday and has hindered his abilities at the plate. He's hitting .169/.241/.183 and has just one extra-base hit all year, though his walk-off single would've been a double in any other situation.
May 4 - 10:25 PM

Roberto Osuna entered in a non-save situation in the ninth inning of Wednesday night's game against the Rangers, but was rewarded with his first win of the season.

It's hard to remember that Osuna is only 21 years old and never pitched above High-A before making the jump to the majors. He's emerged as one of the best relievers in the league. It's not supposed to be that easy. The righty worked an easy ninth inning in a tie game on Wednesday, and Russell Martin's walk-off single ensured that Osuna would pick up his first win of the year and only the second major-league run of his career. He now has a 2.08 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP in 13 innings.
May 4 - 10:18 PM

Edwin Encarnacion launched a two-run homer in the sixth inning of Wednesday's win over the Rangers, finishing the day 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Encarnacion hasn't quite hit his stride in 2016, but he's still driving in runs and the power is showing signs of coming around. The 33-year-old got a mid-80s fastball up in the zone from Colby Lewis and promptly deposited it in the second deck of the left-field stands. He's hitting .245/.306/.400 with four homers and 18 RBI.
