Taijuan Walker gave up five runs -- three earned -- in five innings and was charged with a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

He gave up a solo home run to Carlos Beltran in the second inning. He walked in one of the two runs he allowed in the third inning, then surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the fourth. All together he surrendered nine hits and two walks while fanning three batters in the loss. The former Mariners elite prospect falls to 6-7 with a 3.83 ERA in 20 starts in his first season as a Diamondback.

Aaron Slegers will be called up as the 26th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Indians.

Slegers will start Game 2 of Thursday's day/night doubleheader, where he'll be opposed by Indians left-hander Ryan Merritt. Jose Berrios, who had been scheduled to pitch Game 2, will have his start moved back to Saturday. Slegers has been a standout in the minors this year, going 13-4 with a 3.18 ERA over 21 starts at Triple-A Rochester. Thursday will mark the right-hander's major league debut.

Aaron Judge hit a solo home run and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 5-3 win over the Mets on Wednesday.

He went yard off starter Robert Gsellman to put his squad in front in the fourth inning. The young slugger has really struggled since the All Star break but seems to be snapping out of his funk this week. He has a mammoth stat line featuring a .291 batting average with 37 home runs, 91 runs scored, 80 RBI and seven stolen bases. Not bad for a rookie, eh?

Chase Headley went 2-for-2, drove in a run and scored a run in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.

He helped the Yankees score a run without benefit of a hit in the second inning. He walked, went to second on a wild pitch, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a groundout by Garrett Cooper. Headley came to the plate with the bases loaded in the sixth and lifted a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. He also doubled and singled in the game but neither of those factored into the scoring. The veteran third baseman is having another mediocre season, slashing .274/.354/.403 with seven homers and 46 RBI in 111 games.

David Robertson punched out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save against the Mets on Wednesday.

He allowed Amed Rosario to reach base on a wild-pitch strikeout but was spotless other than that. Robertson was trotted out for the ninth inning because regular closer Aroldis Chapman was unavailable due to a tender hamstring. This was Robertson's first save since joining the Yankees in a deadline trade with the White Sox. He has 14 saves overall with a 2.25 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 48 innings.

Jaime Garcia allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings and had to settle for a no-decision as his team beat the Mets on Wednesday.

He struck out three batters, issued three walks and surrendered five base hits, including a solo home run by catcher Rene Rivera in the fifth inning. Garcia has been decent this year, notching a 5-8 record with a 4.52 ERA in 22 starts split between the Braves, Twins and Yankees.

Juan Lagares went 2-for-4 and scored a run in a crosstown loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

He led off the first inning with a double and came home to score on a sacrifice fly lifted by Yoenis Cespedes. The Mets couldn't get much going today and generated only six knocks as a team. The defensive-minded center fielder hasn't received much playing time in a crowded Mets outfield this year. He has a .276 batting average with two homers, eight RBI and 18 runs in 52 games.

Mookie Betts delivered a walk-off two-run double as the Red Sox came back to beat the Cardinals 5-4 on Wednesday.

It was Betts' third hit of the game. The Red Sox rallied from down 4-2 in the ninth on a homer from Xander Bogaerts, a pair of walks and finally Betts' double off the Green Monster with two outs. Betts had three RBI in all, putting him at 75 for the year. He had been slumping since the All-Star break, hitting just .246/.311/.328 in 122 at-bats.
