Joe Wieland has been confirmed as the Dodgers' starter for Thursday's game against the Brewers.

Wieland owns a cool 3.60 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 22/2 K/BB ratio in 20 innings this season at Triple-A Oklahoma City and makes for an attractive fantasy streamer against the struggling Brewers. The 25-year-old right-hander could stick around for a bit if he pitches well.
May 5 - 4:55 PM

Danny Valencia sprained his ankle Monday on some clubhouse steps and is considered day-to-day.

It's not a severe sprain, but Valencia will be unavailable on Tuesday night and the Blue Jays aren't sure about his status for Wednesday. The 30-year-old is batting .333/.353/.455 in 34 plate appearances this season. He's made four starts in the outfield.
May 5 - 4:51 PM

Yan Gomes (knee) made throws from home to second base from a crouch on Tuesday afternoon.

It's a big step in the right direction for the rehabbing catcher, who was diagnosed April 12 with a moderate right MCL sprain. Gomes should be ready to join the Indians at some point in early-to-mid June. Roberto Perez has been getting the majority of starts behind the plate for the Indians.
May 5 - 4:48 PM

Chase Utley is expected to sit out until Friday.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg wants to give the struggling second baseman three full days of rest. Utley, 36, is batting just .103/.182/.207 in 25 games this season.
May 5 - 4:45 PM

Alex Guerrero is starting in left field and batting eighth on Tuesday night against the Brewers.

Justin Turner will start at third base and Juan Uribe will be on the bench. Guerrero, 28, is batting .364/.389/.879 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 16 games (only four starts) this season. He was named the National League Rookie of the Month for April.
May 5 - 4:43 PM

Michael Saunders (knee) is out again Tuesday.

Saunders had fluid drained from his surgically-repaired knee on Monday and the Jays intend to rest him for much of this week. The 28-year-old left fielder is batting just .222 with a .566 OPS since his debut.
May 5 - 4:38 PM

An MRI came up clean on Hanley Ramirez's shoulder.

Ramirez was lifted from Monday's game against the Rays after banging his left shoulder against the left field wall at Fenway Park while trying to make a catch. He showed improved range of motion on Tuesday and is hoping to avoid the disabled list, but he'll be out for at least a handful of games. The 31-year-old slugger had racked up 10 home runs and 22 RBI through just 92 at-bats.
May 5 - 4:35 PM

Indians activated 1B Nick Swisher from the 15-day disabled list.

Swisher is starting at DH and batting sixth for the Tribe in his 2015 regular-season debut Tuesday night against the Royals. He missed the first month of the season while rehabbing dual knee surgeries. The 34-year-old only has fringe value in standard mixed fantasy leagues after batting .208/.278/.331 with eight home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games last summer.
