Dustin Pedroia (knee) remained out of the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.
He's sitting out a second straight game after getting spiked in the leg on Friday on a play at second base. The Red Sox are off Monday and are likely shooting for Pedroia to return Tuesday. Marco Hernandez is handling second base again Sunday, while Xander Bogaerts is again in the leadoff spot. Boston also has Christian Vazquez at catcher.
Brandon Phillips is batting second for the Braves on Sunday.
Phillips had hit fifth or sixth in every game this season, but he's earned a move up in the order after a .333/.371/.500 start with a couple homers. The struggling Dansby Swanson is batting eighth for the third straight game. The Braves also have Jace Peterson at third base Sunday, as Adonis Garcia is getting a day off.
Braves recalled RHP Matt Wisler from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Wisler, of course, is a starter by trade, but he'll be used in long relief for now. He held a 3.50 ERA in his first three starts for Gwinnett.
Braves optioned RHP Aaron Blair to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Blair was only up for a couple days and didn't appear in a game. He'll return to Gwinnett's rotation.
Josh Bell is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.
Bell has been heating up at the plate lately, but he'll be on the bench for this one. David Freese has shifted over to first base, with Josh Harrison handling third and Phil Gosselin second. The Pirates also have Chris Stewart catching over Francisco Cervelli.
Reds recalled RHP Ariel Hernandez from Double-A Pensacola.
The club needed relief help after Cody Reed lasted just two innings in his start Saturday. Hernandez earned a promotion after allowing just one run while striking out 14 over his first eight relief innings for Pensacola. He'll be making his major league debut.
Reds optioned RHP Lisalverto Bonilla to Triple-A Louisville.
Bonilla allowed four runs over five relief innings Saturday, so the Reds needed a fresh bullpen arm. His spot will be taken by Ariel Hernandez.
Rays recalled RHP Chih-Wei Hu from Triple-A Durham.
Acquired from the Twins in 2015 in the Kevin Jepsen trade, Hu has posted a 3.94 ERA in the early going at Durham this season. He'll be a long relief option and will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
