Cubs placed RHP Justin Grimm on the 10-day disabled list with a right index finger infection.

It shouldn't be a long stint on the DL. Grimm holds a 5.40 ERA over 39 relief appearances this season.
Aug 18 - 12:34 PM

Cubs placed LHP Jon Lester on the 10-day disabled list with general left shoulder fatigue.

It's not ideal, obviously, but Lester's shoulder and lat are structurally sound and he's not expected to be on the disabled list long. The lefty should have a chance to be back before the end of the month. Mike Montgomery will slide into the Cubs' rotation in the meantime.
Aug 18 - 12:31 PM

Rays activated OF Kevin Kiermaier from the 60-day disabled list.

Kiermaier is ready to roll after missing over two months of action with a fractured hip (he also had a minor back issue last month). He was just 3-for-24 on a rehab assignment and might need a few extra days off initially, but fantasy owners should feel free to re-insert Kiermaier into their lineups. He's in center field and batting leadoff Friday.
Aug 18 - 12:29 PM

Roberto Osuna will not be available to pitch Friday due to the flu.

He's not even at the ballpark, as the Blue Jays have told Osuna to stay at the team hotel to rest. Hopefully he'll be ready to go Saturday. Ryan Tepera will close on Friday if Toronto has a save chance. Danny Barnes and Dominic Leone are also unavailable Friday due to recent usage, so the Jays are shorthanded in the bullpen.
Aug 18 - 12:14 PM

Willson Contreras (hamstring) played catch Friday.

It's his first bit of baseball activity since he landed on the disabled list a week ago with a strained right hamstring. Obviously, running is going to be the biggest test for Contreras, and he's unlikely to be cleared for that anytime soon. The young catcher is expected to be sidelined until at least mid-September.
Aug 18 - 12:03 PM

Kendrys Morales is not in the Blue Jays' lineup Friday.

He might be limited to pinch-hitting duties this weekend with the Jays at Wrigley field for an interleague series. Given that Morales is in a 3-for-30 funk at the plate, a little break might be good for him.
Aug 18 - 11:55 AM

Alex Cobb (toe) could rejoin the Rays' rotation as soon as Tuesday versus the Blue Jays.

Cobb threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday and is slated for another one Saturday. Assuming that goes well, he'll be cleared to rejoin the Rays' rotation. The veteran right-hander has missed the last two weeks with turf toe in his right big toe.
Aug 18 - 10:50 AM

Kyle Schwarber is not in the Cubs' lineup Friday.

He'll take a seat with the Blue Jays throwing lefty J.A. Happ. Ben Zobrist is in left field and Ian Happ is at second base.
