Dodgers sent LHP David Huff outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Huff was designated for assignment by the Dodgers after allowing four runs over four innings in a spot start Tuesday night against the Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw will continue to function as organizational rotation depth for Los Angeles.

Melky Cabrera went 4-for-5 with a double as the White Sox routed the Tigers on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

Cabrera scored a pair of runs and drove home two on the impressive afternoon. He had been off to a bit of a slow start with his new squad, and is now hitting .238/.238/.262 after his four-hit attack.
Apr 18 - 4:23 PM

Chris Sale racked up six strikeouts in six innings of work in a victory over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

Staked to a gigantic lead, Sale was on cruise control for most of the afternoon, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over his six frames. He did surrender one home run, a solo shot to J.D. Martinez. Sale now boasts a 2.25 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 14/2 K/BB ratio over 12 innings in his first two starts. He'll look to continue that dominance on Thursday when he does battle against the Royals.
Apr 18 - 4:21 PM

Alcides Escobar (knee) is not in the Royals starting lineup on Saturday.

Escobar strained his knee Friday when Oakland's Brett Lawrie took him out with a hard slide at second base. Christian Colon will fill in at shortstop. Escobar was off to a good start before the injury, hitting .326 with seven runs and five RBI. Consider him day-to-day.
Apr 18 - 4:20 PM

J.D. Martinez blasted his fifth home run of the season in a losing effort against the White Sox on Saturday.

He took Chris Sale out to the opposite field for the solo shot in the fourth inning, the fourth time this season that Martinez has homered to right field. He finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .255/.271/.596 with the five long balls and 10 RBI on the season.
Apr 18 - 4:20 PM

Anibal Sanchez was absolutely annihilated in Saturday's loss to the White Sox, surrendering nine runs on nine hits over 3 1/3 innings of work.

Sanchez walked two and struck out two on the afternoon. Most of the damage came on during a seven-run fourth inning, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Jose Abreu. It was the second straight rough outing for the right-hander who was knocked around by the Pirates his last time out. He has been the lone weak link in what has been a superb rotation for the Tigers in the early part of the season. He'll look to turn things around on Thursday against the Yankees.
Apr 18 - 4:16 PM

Josh Donaldson blasted a walk off home run leading off the tenth inning on Saturday, propelling the Blue Jays to a 6-5 victory over the Braves.

Donaldson belted his first two homers of the season on Friday and carried that power surge right over through Saturday's contest. He finished the afternoon 3-for-4 and also scored a pair of runs, and is now hitting an impressive .340/.396/.596 with 10 RBI on the year.
Apr 18 - 4:15 PM

Billy Hamilton left Saturday's game against the Cardinals with an apparent injury.

Hamilton legged out an infield single in the top of the eighth inning but had to leap over Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams and landed awkwardly. It looked like it might have been a groin strain. There should be an update from the Reds within the hour.
