Andrew Benintendi went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer on Sunday in a win over the Orioles.

Benintendi now has five homers on the year, with this one coming off of Baltimore starter David Hess with a runner on in the fifth inning. The left-handed hitting outfielder's slash is up to .285/.367/.477, and he's driven in 29 runs and stolen eight bases on as many attempts over the first 44 games on his 2018 campaign.

David Hess gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

Hess couldn’t keep the ball in the park in this one, as he gave up three homers against the Boston lineup; two of them by J.D. Martinez. The 24-year-old also allowed eight hits, and has allowed 14 knocks in just 10 ⅔ innings at the MLB level. Baltimore has no assigned starter for Friday’s game against the Rays, so Hess could get another crack at success against Tampa Bay. Whether or not he should is a different question.
May 20 - 4:53 PM

Eduardo Rodriguez fired 5 2/3 scoreless innings on Sunday with seven strikeouts in a win over the Orioles.

Rodriguez was fortunate -- borderline lucky -- to come out of the game scoreless, as he allowed nine hits in the start against Baltimore. He was able to make the key pitch when he needed to, however, and Heath Hembree cleaned up a bases loaded jam for the left-hander to end the sixth. Rodriguez now has an ERA on the season of 4.13, and he’s been able to strike out 58 hitters in 48 innings. He’ll be back on the mound on Saturday when he takes on the Braves in Fenway Park.

J.D. Martinez homered twice in a 5-0 blanking of the Orioles on Sunday.

Martinez also drew a walk. The first homer was a solo shot off of Baltimore starter David Hess, and he got Hess again with a runner on in the fifth. He now has 15 blasts on the season, and his three runs batted have him sitting at 41 on the season. Simply put, Martinez is one of the best offensive players in baseball, and he's proven as much so far in 2018.

Yangervis Solarte went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.

The homer didn't do a thing to change the results of the game as it came with Toronto trailing 9-0 in the ninth inning, but you certainly won't be complaining if he's in your lineup. He now has 10 homers on the season, and his overall line of .267/.320/.480 with 29 RBI in 45 games is better than expected after coming to the Blue Jays from San Diego.
May 20 - 4:47 PM

Kendrys Morales went 2-for-4 and also pitched a scoreless ninth in a blowout loss to the Blue Jays.

Always fun to see position players pitching, and Morales was able to keep the Athletics scoreless while throwing 16 pitches. It's been a horrific year, and the two singles raise the switch-hitter's line to .146/.248/.279 on the 2018 season. Maybe this can be the start of a hot streak, but there's been nothing over the past two months that suggest one is coming.
May 20 - 4:44 PM

Josh Reddick (leg) returned to the Astros' starting lineup on Sunday.

Reddick missed the previous two games due to leg irritation. He's batting fifth against Carlos Carrasco and the Indians on Sunday night.
May 20 - 4:41 PM

Marcus Semien bashed a two-run homer and drove in three runs overall in a win over the Blue Jays.

Semien's blast was a two-run shot off of Danny Barnes in the fifth inning that upped the A's lead to 5-0. He also drove in a run on a sac fly, with the only negative being that he was thrown out stealing for the second time this season. On the year, Semien has a .276/.323/.404 line with five homers, 23 RBI and four steals over 47 games.
