Twins recalled RHP Tyler Duffey from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll take Alan Busenitz's spot in the Twins' bullpen. Duffey, 27, put up a 4.94 ERA and 67/18 K/BB ratio over 71 relief innings last season. He began the year in Triple-A after a rough showing in the spring, but he should slide into a middle relief role in his return to the majors.

Rays SS prospect Willy Adames hit for the cycle on Monday for Triple-A Durham.

Adames, 22, also drove in three runs and scored twice. Acquired from Detroit in the three-team trade for David Price back in 2014, Adames has become one of the best shortstop prospects in all of baseball. He's a patient hitter who can also spray line drives to all parts of the field, and there's "sneaky" pop in his right-handed bat. Add in quality defense at a premium position, and you have a player with a high-floor and a high-ceiling. He should be playing everyday for Tampa Bay before the end of the summer.

Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said that prospect outfielder Kyle Lewis (knee) is expected to begin his game progression Wednesday in extended spring training.

Lewis underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee back in February, but he should be ready to join one of the Mariners' minor league affiliates in May. The 2016 first-rounder has had all sorts of bad luck on the health, undergoing ACL surgery on the very same knee shortly after being drafted. The 22-year-old outfielder has some exciting potential, but has appeared in just 79 games so far in pro ball.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Nationals are calling up outfielder Rafael Bautista and infielder Adrian Sanchez.

The Nationals have yet to make an official announcement, but Shawn Kelley (elbow) is expected to land on the disabled list in one of the corresponding roster moves. Jamal Collier of MLB.com notes that Matt Reynolds was packing up his things after Monday's game, so that's likely the other move. Bautista and Sanchez will offer some bench depth -- with the latter possibly picking up a couple of starts -- but they aren't fantasy relevant.

Melky Cabrera will receive a $1 million salary in the majors as part of his minor league contract with the Indians.

The deal, which is pending a physical, carries $1 million in additional incentives and also includes an opt-out. Cabrera, 33, batted .285/.324/.423 with 17 home runs and 85 RBI last season for the White Sox and Royals. He could end up carving out significant playing time in Cleveland's outfield.
Apr 24 - 12:34 PM

Trevor Plouffe will make a $1.5 million salary with the Phillies if he's called up to the majors.

The deal also includes incentives worth $150,000. Plouffe latched on with the Phillies on Monday after opting out of his minor league deal with the Rangers earlier this month. The 31-year-old struggled with the Athletics and Rays last season, but makes for useful depth at the Triple-A level.
Apr 24 - 12:31 PM

White Sox recalled OF Daniel Palka from Triple-A Charlotte.

He'll replace the injured Avisail Garcia (hamstring) on the active roster. Palka was claimed off waivers from the Twins back in November and was batting .286/.384/.476 with three homers and seven RBI through 17 games in Triple-A this season. The 26-year-old will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
Apr 24 - 12:12 PM

White Sox placed OF Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

Garcia pulled up lame trying to run out a grounder in the second inning on Monday and had to be helped off the field. There's no clear timetable for his return. Daniel Palka has been called up to take his place on the active roster for Chicago.
